Which companies in Iowa sponsor visas for technical solutions engineers?
Iowa employers with a track record of visa sponsorship for technical roles include Principal Financial Group in Des Moines, Collins Aerospace in Cedar Rapids, and companies operating in the state's growing agritech and insurance technology sectors. Larger enterprises with established HR and legal infrastructure are generally more equipped to manage H-1B and other sponsorship processes than smaller firms.
Which visa types are most common for technical solutions engineer roles in Iowa?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for technical solutions engineers in Iowa, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, engineering, or a related field. Candidates already holding O-1, L-1, or TN status may also be eligible, depending on nationality and circumstances. The EB-3 employment-based green card is a common longer-term pathway employers pursue after initial H-1B sponsorship.
Which cities in Iowa have the most technical solutions engineer sponsorship jobs?
Des Moines is Iowa's primary hub for technical solutions engineer roles, driven by its concentration of financial services, insurance technology, and enterprise software companies. Cedar Rapids supports engineering hiring through aerospace and manufacturing firms such as Collins Aerospace. Iowa City and Coralville also see occasional openings linked to healthcare technology and university-adjacent employers.
How to find technical solutions engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Iowa?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for roles that include visa sponsorship, making it straightforward to search for technical solutions engineer positions in Iowa without sorting through listings that won't sponsor. You can filter by role type and state to surface active openings at Iowa employers who have indicated willingness to sponsor. Creating a profile lets you track new Iowa postings as they appear.
Are there any Iowa-specific considerations for technical solutions engineers seeking visa sponsorship?
Iowa's prevailing wage requirements apply to sponsored positions, meaning employers must pay wages that meet Department of Labor standards for the role and location. Because Iowa's cost of living differs from coastal tech markets, prevailing wage benchmarks are calculated specifically for Iowa metropolitan areas. Candidates connected to the University of Iowa or Iowa State University may find OPT and STEM OPT extensions useful for gaining initial experience with Iowa-based employers before transitioning to H-1B sponsorship.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored technical solutions engineer jobs in Iowa?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
