Which companies in California sponsor visas for technical solutions engineers?
Large enterprise tech companies are the most consistent sponsors. Salesforce, Cisco, Adobe, ServiceNow, and Palo Alto Networks have all filed H-1B petitions for technical solutions engineer roles in California. Hyperscalers like Google and Meta also hire for this function. Mid-size SaaS companies in the Bay Area and Los Angeles frequently sponsor as well, particularly those with international sales or customer success operations.
What visa types are most commonly used for technical solutions engineer roles in California?
The H-1B is the most common visa for technical solutions engineers in California. The role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation because it requires a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field. Australian citizens may qualify for the E-3 visa as an alternative. Candidates already holding L-1 visa status through intracompany transfers also fill this role at multinational employers with California offices.
Which cities in California have the most technical solutions engineer sponsorship jobs?
San Francisco and the broader Bay Area account for the largest share of technical solutions engineer sponsorship jobs in California, driven by the concentration of enterprise software and cloud infrastructure companies. San Jose and Santa Clara are particularly active given Cisco and other networking firms headquartered there. Los Angeles has a growing presence, especially among media tech and e-commerce platforms. San Diego and Sacramento represent smaller but active markets.
How to find technical solutions engineer visa sponsorship jobs in California?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to find technical solutions engineer roles in California where employers are actively sponsoring. Rather than sorting through general job boards where sponsorship status is unclear, Migrate Mate surfaces only roles from employers with a demonstrated history of sponsoring international candidates, which is especially useful in California's competitive market.
Are there state-specific considerations for technical solutions engineers pursuing sponsorship in California?
California's prevailing wage determinations for technical solutions engineers tend to reflect the high cost of living in the Bay Area and Los Angeles, which affects the wage levels employers must certify on Labor Condition Applications. The state's large university system, particularly UC Berkeley, Stanford, and UCLA, creates a strong pipeline of international candidates who often pursue sponsorship after OPT. California also has no state-level restrictions on employer-employee relationships that affect standard H-1B filings.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored technical solutions engineer jobs in California?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
