Which insurance companies in Puerto Rico sponsor Green Cards?
Triple-S Salud, MMM Healthcare, and MCS Financial are among the larger carriers on the island with established HR infrastructure for employment-based immigration. National insurers with Puerto Rico operations, such as MetLife and Humana, have also filed PERM labor certifications for insurance professionals. Sponsorship availability varies by role, business need, and the employer's immigration program at the time of hiring.
Which cities in Puerto Rico have the most insurance Green Card sponsorship jobs?
San Juan is the center of Puerto Rico's insurance sector, with the largest concentration of carrier headquarters, managed care organizations, and brokerage offices. Guaynabo and Bayamón, as part of the greater San Juan metro area, also host insurance employers. Smaller markets like Ponce and Mayagüez have limited insurance hiring and fewer documented PERM filings compared to the capital region.
What types of insurance roles typically qualify for Green Card sponsorship in Puerto Rico?
Roles requiring specialized degrees or credentials tend to attract employer-sponsored Green Card filings. Actuaries, underwriters, compliance analysts, healthcare claims analysts, and risk management professionals in Puerto Rico's insurance sector are among those most commonly tied to PERM-based sponsorship. Positions that require a specific bachelor's degree or higher in a directly related field generally meet the specialty occupation threshold that supports an employment-based Green Card petition.
How do I find insurance Green Card sponsorship jobs in Puerto Rico?
Migrate Mate surfaces insurance employer sponsorship history specific to Puerto Rico, letting you filter for companies that have filed PERM labor certifications or employment-based petitions in the insurance sector. Rather than applying broadly and asking about sponsorship later, you can use Migrate Mate to identify carriers and managed care organizations on the island that have a documented track record of sponsoring Green Cards for insurance professionals.
Are there any Puerto Rico-specific considerations for insurance Green Card sponsorship?
Puerto Rico operates under U.S. federal immigration law, so the standard PERM labor certification and I-140 petition process applies. However, the island's labor market is smaller, which means PERM recruitment requirements must reflect local advertising in Puerto Rico-based media. Insurance employers here also navigate a distinct regulatory environment overseen by the Office of the Insurance Commissioner of Puerto Rico, which can affect job duties described in Green Card filings.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card insurance jobs in Puerto Rico?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
