Which companies sponsor visas for data science engineers in Rhode Island?
CVS Health, headquartered in Woonsocket, is among the most active sponsors in the state, regularly hiring data science engineers for its health analytics and pharmacy benefit divisions. Brown University and the University of Rhode Island also sponsor roles in research settings. Amica Mutual Insurance, Thundermist Health Center, and fintech-adjacent firms in Providence have filed LCAs for data engineering and applied science positions as well.
Which visa types are most common for data science engineer roles in Rhode Island?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa category for data science engineers in Rhode Island, as the role consistently qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, statistics, or a related field. Candidates from Australia may qualify for the E-3 visa, and those from Canada or Mexico can explore the TN visa under the NAFTA/USMCA engineer category. L-1B transfers are also used by multinationals with Rhode Island offices.
Which cities in Rhode Island have the most data science engineer sponsorship jobs?
Providence accounts for the large majority of data science engineer sponsorship activity in Rhode Island, driven by its concentration of healthcare companies, universities, and financial services firms. Woonsocket is notable due to CVS Health's corporate presence. Smaller pockets of activity exist in Warwick and Cranston, primarily from healthcare and insurance employers. Rhode Island's geography means most roles are realistically accessible from anywhere in the state.
How to find data science engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Rhode Island?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to browse data science engineer roles in Rhode Island without sifting through positions that don't support international candidates. You can filter by state and role type to surface openings at employers like CVS Health and Brown University that have a documented history of filing H-1B and other work visa petitions for this occupation.
Are there state-specific factors that affect data science engineer visa sponsorship in Rhode Island?
Rhode Island's sponsorship activity is heavily shaped by its healthcare and insurance sectors, which means data science engineers with domain knowledge in clinical data, claims analytics, or actuarial modeling have a stronger fit with local employers. Brown University's data science programs create a steady pipeline of OPT candidates, making employers in Providence familiar with sponsoring international talent. The state's smaller employer pool means fewer total openings than neighboring Massachusetts, so candidates often look at both markets simultaneously.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored data science engineer jobs in Rhode Island?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
