- Perform unit, integration, system, and user acceptance testing to ensure solutions meet requirements.
- Build deployment packages and coordinate structured deployments across Dev/Test/Production environments.
- Implement monitoring, alerting, and data integrity checks for all deployed automation.
Support, Troubleshooting & Training
- Provide Tier 3 support for automation tools and integration workflows; assist Tier 1 & 2 as needed.
- Solve complex issues, communicate status to collaborators, and ensure minimal business disruption.
- Maintain documentation, user guides, and training materials; deliver training to end users.
Continuous Improvement & Collaboration

Which companies sponsor visas for automation engineers in South Carolina?
BMW Manufacturing in Spartanburg, Boeing in North Charleston, and Michelin's North American headquarters in Greenville are among the largest employers of automation engineers in South Carolina with documented H-1B sponsorship histories. Technology and defense contractors such as Bosch and SCRA-affiliated firms in the Upstate also sponsor work visas for automation and controls engineering roles.
Which visa types are most common for automation engineer roles in South Carolina?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for automation engineers in South Carolina, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, or systems engineering. Employers with Canadian or Mexican nationals may use TN visas under the engineer category. Some multinational manufacturers like BMW and Bosch also transfer engineers on L-1 visas.
Which cities in South Carolina have the most automation engineer sponsorship jobs?
Greenville and Spartanburg in the Upstate region account for the largest concentration of automation engineer roles, driven by the BMW plant and a dense network of automotive suppliers. Charleston is a secondary hub, anchored by Boeing's 787 assembly facility and growing aerospace supply chain. Columbia has a smaller but steady presence through defense contractors and manufacturing firms near Fort Jackson.
How to find automation engineer visa sponsorship jobs in South Carolina?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can search automation engineer roles in South Carolina without sorting through positions that won't support work authorization. The platform is built for international job seekers, making it easier to identify which South Carolina employers in advanced manufacturing, aerospace, and automotive are actively hiring and willing to sponsor visas for automation engineers.
Are there any state-specific considerations for automation engineers seeking visa sponsorship in South Carolina?
South Carolina's heavy concentration of foreign-owned manufacturers, including BMW (Germany), Michelin (France), and Bosch (Germany), means many employers are already experienced with international hiring and intracompany transfer pathways. The state's Clemson University and University of South Carolina also produce engineering graduates who feed into local talent pipelines, which can affect how competitive sponsored positions are for international applicants.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored automation engineer jobs in South Carolina?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
