Which companies sponsor visas for NPs in South Carolina?
The most active sponsors for nurse practitioners in South Carolina are large integrated health systems. MUSC Health (Medical University of South Carolina), Prisma Health, Palmetto Health, and Tidelands Health have established international hiring pipelines. Federal facilities including VA medical centers in Columbia and Charleston also sponsor NPs, as federal employers are exempt from H-1B cap constraints that affect private employers.
Which visa types are most common for NP roles in South Carolina?
The H-1B is the most common visa for nurse practitioners in South Carolina, as NP roles requiring a Master of Science in Nursing meet the specialty occupation standard. EB-3 immigrant visas are also used by health systems willing to sponsor permanent residency. Some internationally trained NPs working for qualifying nonprofits or government facilities explore J-1 waiver programs tied to underserved area commitments, though eligibility depends on individual circumstances.
Which cities in South Carolina have the most NP sponsorship jobs?
Charleston leads NP hiring in South Carolina, driven by MUSC Health and a growing network of specialty clinics. Columbia is the second-largest market, anchored by Prisma Health and the VA Columbia Medical Center. Greenville has expanded significantly through Prisma Health Upstate. Beyond these metros, rural counties in the Pee Dee region and Lowcountry actively recruit NPs to address documented primary care shortages.
How to find np visa sponsorship jobs in South Carolina?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find NP visa sponsorship jobs in South Carolina. The platform filters specifically for employers willing to sponsor work visas, saving you from sorting through listings that don't address immigration. You can filter by state and role to see current NP openings across Charleston, Columbia, Greenville, and rural South Carolina health systems, all verified for sponsorship eligibility.
Are there state-specific considerations for NPs seeking visa sponsorship in South Carolina?
South Carolina is a full practice authority state, meaning NPs can practice, prescribe, and operate independently without a physician supervision requirement. This broadens the range of employers who can sponsor you, including independent clinics and telehealth providers, not just hospital systems. The state's documented shortage of primary care providers in rural counties strengthens the case for sponsorship, as employers must demonstrate a genuine need when filing visa petitions.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored np jobs in South Carolina?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
