Which companies sponsor visas for NPs in Delaware?
ChristianaCare, Delaware's largest health system, is the most active employer of nurse practitioners and has sponsored work visas for clinical roles across its Wilmington and Newark campuses. Bayhealth Medical Center in Dover and Nemours Children's Health also hire NPs and have experience with employer-sponsored immigration. Federally Qualified Health Centers operating in underserved Delaware counties are additional sponsors worth targeting, particularly for primary care NP positions.
Which visa types are most common for NP roles in Delaware?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa for nurse practitioners in Delaware, as NP roles requiring a Master of Science in Nursing generally qualify as specialty occupations under USCIS criteria. Some employers also use the TN visa for Canadian and Mexican nationals who hold qualifying NP credentials. For NPs with extraordinary clinical or research recognition, the O-1A is an option, though it is far less commonly pursued in standard clinical hiring.
Which cities in Delaware have the most NP sponsorship jobs?
Wilmington accounts for the largest share of NP sponsorship opportunities in Delaware, driven by ChristianaCare's flagship hospital and multiple outpatient facilities concentrated in New Castle County. Dover, home to Bayhealth, is the next significant market, particularly for family and internal medicine NPs. Newark, near the University of Delaware, also sees NP hiring connected to affiliated clinical programs. Rural Sussex County has demand but fewer sponsoring employers.
How to find np visa sponsorship jobs in Delaware?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find NP visa sponsorship jobs in Delaware, as the platform filters roles specifically by sponsorship availability, saving time compared to screening general job listings manually. Focusing your search on Wilmington and Dover will surface the highest volume of results. It helps to have your NP licensure documentation and NCLEX equivalency records ready, since Delaware health systems typically move quickly once a candidate clears credentialing review.
Are there state-specific considerations for NPs seeking visa sponsorship in Delaware?
Delaware grants NPs full practice authority, meaning they can evaluate, diagnose, and prescribe independently without a physician collaboration agreement. This makes Delaware NP roles more attractive to health systems and can strengthen a sponsorship case, since the scope of practice clearly supports the specialty occupation classification required for H-1B eligibility. International NPs must still obtain Delaware licensure through the Board of Nursing, which requires verification of foreign credentials before an employer can finalize sponsorship paperwork.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored np jobs in Delaware?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
