Which companies sponsor visas for NPs in Pennsylvania?
Large integrated health systems are the most consistent sponsors. UPMC, Penn Medicine, Jefferson Health, and Geisinger Health System have established HR and legal infrastructure to support H-1B and TN petitions. Community health centers funded under federal programs are also known to sponsor, as they often face persistent staffing shortages in primary care and behavioral health NP roles across underserved Pennsylvania communities.
Which visa types are most common for NP roles in Pennsylvania?
The H-1B is the most widely used visa for NPs in Pennsylvania, as nurse practitioner roles generally qualify as specialty occupations requiring at least a master's degree. Canadian NPs may pursue the TN visa under USMCA, which allows for a more streamlined process at the border. Some NPs also enter on J-1 visas through academic medical center exchange programs, particularly those affiliated with Pennsylvania's research universities.
Which cities in Pennsylvania have the most NP sponsorship jobs?
Philadelphia is Pennsylvania's largest NP job market, anchored by major academic health systems and specialty practices. Pittsburgh follows closely, driven by UPMC's extensive network across western Pennsylvania. Harrisburg, Allentown, and Reading also generate consistent NP openings, particularly in primary care and federally qualified health centers. Rural and semi-rural regions across central Pennsylvania increasingly recruit internationally as domestic NP supply remains limited in those areas.
How to find np visa sponsorship jobs in Pennsylvania?
Migrate Mate filters NP jobs specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can browse Pennsylvania openings without sorting through employers who don't sponsor. The platform covers health systems, community health centers, and specialty practices across the state. Because NP sponsorship depends heavily on the individual employer's immigration infrastructure, searching through Migrate Mate helps you focus on roles where sponsorship is already part of the hiring process.
Are there state-specific considerations for NPs seeking visa sponsorship in Pennsylvania?
Pennsylvania grants NPs full practice authority, which broadens the range of employer types willing to hire and sponsor. This means solo practices, urgent care networks, and retail health clinics can operate NPs independently, expanding your potential sponsoring employer pool beyond large hospital systems. Pennsylvania's concentration of federally qualified health centers, which receive federal funding and often prioritize underserved area staffing, also creates sponsorship opportunities that may not exist in states with more restrictive NP practice laws.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored np jobs in Pennsylvania?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
