Which companies sponsor visas for technical architects in South Carolina?
Large multinational employers with South Carolina operations are the most consistent sponsors for technical architect roles. Bosch's manufacturing technology hub in Anderson, BMW Group's Spartanburg plant, and Michelin's North American headquarters in Greenville have all filed H-1B visa petitions for technical and systems architecture positions. Financial services firms in Columbia and defense contractors supporting Charleston's naval installations also appear regularly in Department of Labor disclosure data for sponsored architecture roles.
Which visa types are most common for technical architect roles in South Carolina?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for technical architects in South Carolina, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related engineering field. Candidates already holding L-1A or L-1B status through intracompany transfers are also well represented, particularly at multinational manufacturers like BMW and Bosch that transfer architects from European headquarters.
Which cities in South Carolina have the most technical architect sponsorship jobs?
Greenville and Spartanburg lead the state for technical architect sponsorship activity, driven by the Upstate South Carolina manufacturing technology corridor anchored by BMW, Michelin, and a dense network of automotive and industrial suppliers. Columbia follows, with state government IT modernization projects and a growing private technology sector. Charleston is an emerging market, particularly for architects supporting defense technology, logistics, and the port authority's infrastructure.
How to find technical architect visa sponsorship jobs in South Carolina?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to browse technical architect openings in South Carolina without sorting through roles that don't offer sponsorship. Because the state's sponsoring employers are concentrated in manufacturing technology, defense, and enterprise IT, narrowing your search on Migrate Mate by industry alongside role and location gives the most relevant results for your background.
What should technical architects know about the South Carolina job market before applying for sponsored roles?
South Carolina's technical architect demand is heavily tied to advanced manufacturing and defense rather than pure software, so candidates with experience in industrial systems, enterprise architecture for manufacturing operations, or infrastructure supporting regulated environments tend to align well with the state's sponsoring employers. The University of South Carolina and Clemson University both produce engineering graduates, but senior architect roles with sponsorship more often go to experienced candidates than recent graduates.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored technical architect jobs in South Carolina?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
