Which companies sponsor visas for waiters in South Carolina?
Large hotel and resort operators are the most consistent sponsors for waiter roles in South Carolina. Properties affiliated with Marriott, Hilton, and Hyatt, particularly in Myrtle Beach and Charleston, have a history of sponsoring hospitality workers. Standalone fine dining restaurants occasionally sponsor as well, though it is less common than with large hotel groups that have dedicated HR and legal infrastructure.
Which visa types are most common for waiter roles in South Carolina?
The H-2B temporary nonagricultural worker visa is the most common pathway for waiters in South Carolina, particularly at seasonal resort and beach properties in Myrtle Beach. The J-1 cultural exchange visa is also used, often through hospitality training programs. The H-1B is generally not applicable to waiter roles because the position typically does not meet the specialty occupation requirement of a bachelor's degree in a specific field.
Which cities in South Carolina have the most waiter sponsorship jobs?
Myrtle Beach accounts for the largest share of waiter sponsorship activity in South Carolina, driven by its high concentration of resort hotels and seasonal tourism demand. Charleston is the second most active market, with strong demand from its nationally recognized restaurant scene and luxury hotel properties. Greenville is an emerging market with growing upscale dining, though sponsorship volume there remains smaller than in the coastal cities.
How to find waiter visa sponsorship jobs in South Carolina?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters waiter roles in South Carolina by visa sponsorship availability, so you are not sorting through listings from employers who cannot support your immigration needs. Search by location within the platform to surface active openings in Charleston, Myrtle Beach, and Greenville. Because H-2B sponsorship is often tied to seasonal cycles, checking Migrate Mate early in the calendar year improves your chances of finding active opportunities.
Are there any state-specific considerations for waiter visa sponsorship in South Carolina?
South Carolina's tourism seasonality is an important factor. Myrtle Beach properties typically ramp up hiring for the summer season, meaning H-2B petitions are often filed in the preceding months. South Carolina does not have a state income tax on wages the way some states do, but federal prevailing wage requirements still apply to sponsored positions. Workers in tipped roles should be aware that the employer's wage obligations under a sponsored visa must meet federal prevailing wage standards regardless of tip income.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored waiter jobs in South Carolina?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
