Which companies sponsor visas for business development roles in Tennessee?
Large Tennessee employers with documented H-1B visa sponsorship histories include HCA Healthcare and Change Healthcare in Nashville, FedEx and International Paper in Memphis, and Unum Group in Chattanooga. Technology firms operating out of Nashville's growing tech corridor, including Asurion and SmileDirectClub, have also sponsored business development and partnerships roles. Sponsorship activity is most concentrated among enterprise-scale companies rather than early-stage startups.
Which visa types are most common for business development roles in Tennessee?
The H-1B is the most common visa for business development professionals in Tennessee, provided the role qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a specific bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field such as business administration, marketing, or a technical discipline. Candidates already holding L-1B specialized knowledge status through a multinational employer may also transfer into Tennessee-based roles. TN visa status is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying management or business analyst classifications.
Which cities in Tennessee have the most business development sponsorship jobs?
Nashville accounts for the largest share of business development sponsorship activity in Tennessee, driven by its healthcare, technology, and financial services industries. Memphis follows, with opportunities tied to logistics, supply chain, and distribution sectors anchored by FedEx and its global supplier network. Knoxville and Chattanooga offer additional openings in manufacturing, energy, and advanced materials, particularly among companies connected to Oak Ridge National Laboratory and the Tennessee Valley Authority.
How to find business development visa sponsorship jobs in Tennessee?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for visa sponsorship, making it straightforward to browse business development roles in Tennessee without sifting through positions that don't offer sponsorship. You can narrow results by location to focus on Nashville, Memphis, or other Tennessee cities. Focusing on larger employers in healthcare IT, logistics, and manufacturing tends to surface the most active sponsors for business development and partnerships roles in the state.
Are there any Tennessee-specific factors that affect business development visa sponsorship?
Tennessee has no state income tax, which can make compensation packages more straightforward to benchmark against Department of Labor prevailing wage requirements for H-1B purposes. Nashville's rapid growth as a healthcare and technology hub has increased employer familiarity with visa sponsorship processes over the past decade. Vanderbilt University, the University of Tennessee, and other in-state institutions also supply a pipeline of international graduate students who transition into business development roles with sponsoring employers.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored business development jobs in Tennessee?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
