Tips for Finding CPT Jobs in Tennessee
Start with your university's career center
DSOs at Tennessee universities maintain employer lists specifically vetted for CPT eligibility. Vanderbilt, UT Knoxville, and Tennessee State all have dedicated international student career staff who can connect you with pre-approved CPT partners.
Target healthcare and life sciences employers early
Tennessee's hospital networks, including HCA Healthcare and Vanderbilt University Medical Center, regularly bring on CPT students in health informatics, operations, and research roles. Reach out to HR departments directly before peak recruiting cycles in fall and spring.
Focus your search on Nashville and Memphis first
Nashville's healthcare and tech corridor and Memphis's logistics and supply chain sector concentrate the highest density of CPT-willing employers in the state. Browse F-1 CPT roles in these cities on Migrate Mate to identify which industries are actively hiring international students.
Verify the role is directly tied to your field of study
CPT authorization requires the internship to be an integral part of your curriculum. Engineering students pursuing roles at Tennessee manufacturing firms, for example, should confirm with their DSO that the job description aligns with their specific program requirements before applying.
Use OPT disclosure data to identify CPT-friendly employers
Employers who have sponsored F-1 OPT workers in Tennessee are strong candidates for CPT as well. DOL OFLC disclosure data is publicly searchable and can reveal which Tennessee companies have a documented history of hiring international students across multiple visa categories.
Apply earlier than domestic applicants
CPT authorization processing at your university can take two to four weeks. When using Migrate Mate to find F-1 CPT roles in Tennessee, factor that lead time into your application timeline so your authorization is in place before any offer requires a start date.
