Position Summary
The Human Resources Manager is responsible for overseeing all HR functions within a fast-paced meat processing facility. This role ensures compliance with labor laws, promotes a safe and inclusive workplace, and supports operational goals through effective workforce management. The ideal candidate must be bilingual (English/Spanish) to effectively communicate with a diverse workforce.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Recruitment & Staffing
- Lead Production hourly recruitment efforts, including high-volume hiring for production roles.
- Develop sourcing strategies to maintain adequate staffing levels across shifts.
- Coordinate onboarding, orientation, and job-specific training in partnership with operations.
- Ensure new hires meet regulatory, safety, and company requirements.
Employee Relations
- Serve as the primary HR contact for employee concerns, investigations, and conflict resolution.
- Conduct prompt, fair, and thorough investigations into workplace complaints.
- Provide coaching to supervisors on discipline, documentation, and performance management.
- Promote a respectful, inclusive, and compliant workplace environment.
- Support retention efforts in a high-turnover manufacturing setting.
- Maintain personnel files and ensure documentation meets company and legal standards.
- Manage benefits enrollment, changes, and employee communications.
Performance Management & Training
- Guide Supervisors performance evaluations and corrective action processes.
- Identify training needs and coordinate leadership development, safety training, and compliance programs.
Workforce Planning & Operational Partnership
- Collaborate with plant leadership to forecast staffing needs based on production volumes.
- Analyze turnover, absenteeism, and workforce trends to recommend improvements.
- Participate in daily production meetings to maintain visibility and engagement on the plant floor.
- Support organizational changes, restructures, or workforce reductions as needed.
Safety & Culture
- Reinforce a strong safety culture in partnership with Environmental Health & Safety (EHS).
- Promote employee engagement initiatives that align with plant goals and company values.
- Support diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives within the workforce.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- 5+ years of HR experience in manufacturing, food processing, meat packing, or industrial environment preferred.
- Experience supporting high-volume hourly workforces.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong knowledge of employment law, wage and hour regulations, and workplace investigations.
- Experience in a USDA-regulated or food production environment preferred.
- Ability to occasionally work effectively in a cold, wet, and production-driven plant setting.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred.
- Strong conflict resolution and coaching skills.
- Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to balance employee advocacy with operational and business priorities.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
