Which companies sponsor visas for technical support roles in Tennessee?
Several large Tennessee employers have sponsored work visas for technical support positions. HCA Healthcare in Nashville, FedEx in Memphis, and Nissan North America in Smyrna have established H-1B visa sponsorship histories. Additionally, technology-focused firms operating in Nashville's growing tech sector and healthcare IT companies regularly file Labor Condition Applications for technical support and IT roles requiring specialized qualifications.
Which visa types are most common for technical support roles in Tennessee?
The H-1B is the most common visa for technical support roles in Tennessee, provided the position qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field such as computer science or information systems. Some candidates also enter through L-1B visas when transferring within a multinational company. TN visas are available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying computer-related roles.
Which cities in Tennessee have the most technical support sponsorship jobs?
Nashville leads Tennessee for technical support visa sponsorship, driven by its healthcare IT industry and expanding technology sector. Memphis follows, with logistics giants like FedEx and healthcare organizations generating consistent IT support demand. Knoxville sees activity tied to manufacturing technology and the University of Tennessee's research ecosystem. Smaller markets like Franklin and Brentwood host corporate headquarters with active technical hiring.
How to find technical support visa sponsorship jobs in Tennessee?
Migrate Mate filters technical support jobs in Tennessee specifically by visa sponsorship availability, saving you from manually screening hundreds of postings. The platform surfaces roles from employers with documented H-1B filing histories, so you can focus on companies already familiar with the sponsorship process. Searching by Tennessee on Migrate Mate lets you target Nashville, Memphis, and Knoxville opportunities in one place.
Are there any state-specific considerations for technical support visa sponsorship in Tennessee?
Tennessee has no state income tax on wages, which can affect how employers structure compensation packages but does not change federal visa requirements. Employers must still meet Department of Labor prevailing wage requirements for the specific metropolitan area where the role is based, meaning Nashville and Memphis positions carry different prevailing wage obligations. Tennessee's large healthcare IT sector also means many technical support roles intersect with HIPAA compliance requirements, which employers may factor into hiring criteria.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored technical support jobs in Tennessee?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
