Which companies sponsor visas for bookkeepers in Texas?
Large employers with established immigration infrastructure are the most consistent sponsors. In Texas, that includes energy companies headquartered in Houston such as ExxonMobil and Chevron, major financial services firms in Dallas, and technology companies in Austin. Healthcare systems like HCA Houston Healthcare and large retail corporations also hire bookkeepers and have HR teams experienced with work visa petitions.
Which visa types are most common for bookkeeper roles in Texas?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa for bookkeepers with a bachelor's degree in accounting or a closely related field, since the role must qualify as a specialty occupation requiring that specific degree. Some bookkeepers from Canada or Mexico work under TN visa status using the accountant category. Employer-sponsored green card pathways through EB-3 are also used for bookkeeping roles at larger companies.
Which cities in Texas have the most bookkeeper sponsorship jobs?
Houston and Dallas-Fort Worth account for the largest share of bookkeeper sponsorship activity in Texas, driven by their concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters, energy firms, and financial services companies. Austin has grown significantly due to tech sector expansion. San Antonio also generates steady demand through its healthcare and military contracting industries.
How to find bookkeeper visa sponsorship jobs in Texas?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can search bookkeeper roles in Texas without sorting through positions that won't support work authorization. The platform surfaces employers in Houston, Dallas, and Austin who have a documented history of sponsoring accounting and bookkeeping staff, which saves significant time in the job search process.
Are there any Texas-specific considerations for bookkeeper visa sponsorship?
Texas has no state income tax, which makes it attractive for businesses to expand finance and accounting teams, increasing overall hiring volume. The Department of Labor sets prevailing wage requirements for sponsored bookkeeper positions based on the specific metropolitan area, so wages in Houston and Dallas typically differ from those in smaller Texas metros. Large university systems in Texas also generate a steady pipeline of international accounting graduates seeking sponsorship.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored bookkeeper jobs in Texas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
