Which companies sponsor visas for drivers in Texas?
Large trucking carriers and logistics companies account for most driver sponsorship activity in Texas. Werner Enterprises, Schneider National, J.B. Hunt, and Amazon Logistics have all filed Labor Condition Applications for driver roles in the state. Port-adjacent operators in Houston and cross-border freight companies serving the Laredo corridor also appear regularly in Department of Labor disclosure data for sponsored positions.
Which visa types are most common for driver roles in Texas?
The H-2B visa is the most frequently used category for seasonal and temporary driver roles in Texas, particularly in industries with documented shortfalls in U.S. workers. The H-1B visa generally does not apply to most commercial driving positions because they typically do not meet the specialty occupation requirement. CDL-holding drivers from Canada and Mexico may also enter under TN visa status for qualifying transportation roles.
Which cities in Texas have the most driver sponsorship jobs?
Dallas-Fort Worth leads the state for driver sponsorship volume, driven by its concentration of distribution centers and intermodal freight hubs. Houston ranks second, supported by port operations at the Port of Houston and a dense network of petrochemical logistics employers. Laredo is notable specifically for cross-border freight, and San Antonio sees steady demand from regional carriers serving the I-35 corridor.
How to find driver visa sponsorship jobs in Texas?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to identify Texas employers actively hiring drivers who require work authorization. You can narrow results to driver roles across Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston, Laredo, and San Antonio. Because sponsorship willingness is not always stated in standard job postings, using a platform like Migrate Mate that screens for it saves significant time in your search.
Are there any Texas-specific considerations for driver visa sponsorship?
Texas's role as the top U.S. state for cross-border trade with Mexico creates consistent demand for drivers with experience in international freight and customs-compliant logistics. Employers sponsoring commercial drivers must comply with Department of Labor prevailing wage requirements for the specific Texas metropolitan area where the work is performed, which varies between markets like Houston, Dallas, and Laredo. CDL requirements and FMCSA regulations apply regardless of visa category.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored driver jobs in Texas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
