Which companies sponsor visas for engineering program managers in Texas?
Several large employers in Texas have consistent histories of sponsoring engineering program managers. These include Dell Technologies and NXP Semiconductors in Austin, Texas Instruments and AT&T in Dallas, Lockheed Martin and Boeing in the Fort Worth area, and Schlumberger and HP Enterprise in Houston. Semiconductor, defense, and enterprise technology firms tend to have the most structured sponsorship processes for this role.
Which visa types are most common for engineering program manager roles in Texas?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa category for engineering program managers in Texas, as the role typically requires a bachelor's degree or higher in engineering, computer science, or a related technical field, satisfying the specialty occupation requirement. L-1A visas appear for managers transferring within multinational companies. Candidates with extraordinary achievement in the field may also qualify for the O-1 visa.
Which cities in Texas have the most engineering program manager sponsorship jobs?
Austin leads due to its concentration of semiconductor, software, and consumer electronics employers, including Apple, Tesla, Oracle, and Dell. Dallas and the broader DFW metro follow closely, with strong defense, telecom, and financial technology sectors. Houston is active in energy technology and aerospace. San Antonio has a growing cybersecurity and defense cluster tied to military installations.
How to find engineering program manager visa sponsorship jobs in Texas?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to search engineering program manager roles across Texas without sifting through positions that do not sponsor. You can narrow results by city, company, and visa type. Given how competitive this role is in Austin and Dallas, setting up alerts on Migrate Mate for new Texas postings can give you an early advantage.
Are there state-specific or role-specific factors that affect sponsorship for engineering program managers in Texas?
Texas has no state income tax, which influences how employers set compensation relative to prevailing wage requirements under the H-1B program. The Department of Labor prevailing wage for engineering program managers varies by metro area, with Austin and Dallas generally having higher thresholds than smaller markets. Texas also has several strong engineering university pipelines, including UT Austin and Texas A&M, which means employers are accustomed to processing OPT-to-H-1B transitions for this role.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored engineering program manager jobs in Texas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
