Get Access To All JobsPOSITION: The Department of Veterinary Pathobiology in the College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences at Texas A&M University is seeking one (1), 9-month, academic professional track (non-tenure) position as Instructional Assistant Professor with an emphasis in biomedical sciences and genetics with responsibilities for teaching (80%) and service (20%). The successful applicant will be based at the Texas A&M University Higher Education Center (HECM) at McAllen, in South Texas.
GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: This position plays a key role in supporting the continued growth of the Biomedical Sciences (BIMS) program at HECM and in teaching introductory and advanced genetics courses to students completing their full four-year degree in McAllen.
Teaching responsibilities will include undergraduate instruction in the Biomedical Sciences (BIMS) program. The incumbent will teach genetics and other program-relevant courses for students in biomedical sciences and other health- and biology-related majors at the McAllen campus. Genetics teaching will include courses such as Introduction to Phenotypic Expression in the Context of Human Medicine, Biomedical Genetics, Mammalian Genetics, and Advanced Human Genetics. Participating in teaching other BIMS program courses is also expected. The successful candidate is expected to work collaboratively with faculty and leadership at the HECM to advance the teaching mission and to participate in established cross-campus coordination processes to align curriculum and assessment.
Service responsibilities will include service to the department, the college, the university, community outreach, and service to professional organizations. Participation in local campus service, student engagement initiatives, recruitment activities, and community outreach at HECM is expected. McAllen is located in the heart of the Rio Grande Valley.
