Job Summary
Support product quality and quality improvement initiatives. Ensure all products consistently meet James Avery standards and customer expectations. Audit manufacturing processes and perform product inspection checks with attention to quantitative and qualitative details. Investigate root causes utilizing quality core tools, recommend corrective actions, and audit improvements to ensure product safety, quality, and reliability. Actively participate in audits and inspections of components, findings, finished goods, and customer returns and communicate findings. This position is located at our Corpus Christi Manufacturing Facility.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
- Facilitates stock checks, containment activities, and quality issues/escapes between plants and engineers.
- Supports plant engineers and managers with quality issues, not limited to issuing stock checks, assess inventory levels. Adheres to established acceptance criteria and quality standards during stock check. Serves as the main communicator until issue is resolved.
- Reviews Plant Quality KPI with plant management (Escapes, production holds, Plant QI's, audit finding status, Business Impact items). Supports MFG to meet quality goals and priorities. Audits quality related data to ensure accuracy. Conducts weekly or Bi-weekly Quality meeting with plant.
- Ensures open communication with all manufacturing plants and support groups in a timely manner.
- Assists Problem Solving and root cause analysis utilizing quality core tools for problem resolution.
- Assists with implementation of corrective actions with plant’s support and ensure cross-functional team is engaged, validates processes and documentation after improvements are updated.
- Performs and reports out MFG process, product and/or system audits. Reports audit findings to MFG Management team and follows up until audit findings are closed.
- Supports on implementation of procedures and process validation methods.
- Advocates for defined acceptance criteria, limit samples, quality attribute support documents for subjective quality issues in alignment quality department standards.
- Assists with assessing potential quality risks on implementation of new processes, tools, techniques.
- Facilitates for process assessment on current and new product launch, validation, and quality control for improved manufacturing processes.
- Supports Quality Assurance Department Continuous Improvement Projects.
- Communicates and supports MFG site with customer feedback and external data.
- Liaison between each plant and Quality Assurance Department.
- Facilitates and communicates outcome of Problem Solving Techniques, Root Cause Analysis and Quality Core Tools to MFG site colleagues and teams.
- Supports on quality document control and tracking.
WHAT IS REQUIRED:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in quality or manufacturing technical process support or similar work.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
- Ability to execute an organized data collection plan and analyze it utilizing quality core tools to drive to root cause analysis and to present, propose and ensure solutions are implemented by appropriate teams.
- Decision making ability on quality concerns based on potential risk, severity, and occurrence.
- Proven ability to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously and manage frequent interruptions.
- Ability to communicate confidently and professionally with internal departments and customers.
- Demonstrated ability to determine the root causes of manufacturing defects and independently identify options to correct the problem.
- Must be able to travel 25% of the time.
- Ability to pass a background check as well as an alcohol, controlled substance, and illegal drug screen that meets Company standards before beginning regular employment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Technical/Vocational certification or Associate’s Degree in a science, engineering, technology, computer science, mathematics or related field.
- Experience in statistical analysis performing audits and trend analysis.
- Knowledge of manufacturing procedures and processes.
- Solid understanding of jewelry making process at a mass production level.
- Experience as process, product launch or development technician.
- Knowledge and understanding of company product quality standards.
- Experience in Excel data base sorting, analysis, pivot tables, formulas, and spreadsheet design.
- Demonstrated ability to train others on new manufacturing techniques, procedures or processes.
- Quality Core Tools, Root Cause Analysis, SPC, PFMEA and Control Plan.
