Herzog Technologies, Inc. is currently seeking a self-motivated and flexible Communication Systems Technician in Fort Worth, TX to join our team.
Duties and Responsibilities: This is a non-exhaustive overview of the job duties for this position.
- Install, test, and maintain RF systems, network and fiber-optic communication systems, and AC/DC power systems.
- Troubleshooting and repairing network, telephone, and radio system malfunctions using diagnostic software and tools.
- Keeping accurate records of repairs, installations, and system configurations.
- Must be willing and able to work after normal business hours with rotational on call and prepared to travel at moment’s notice.
- Maintains safe work environment by following codes, standards, and legal regulations.
- Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, verifying receipt.
- Regular and consistent engagement, participation and promotion of Herzog’s Culture and its essential behaviors are a requirement for this position.
- Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Associate’s degree or post-secondary training in electronics/telecommunications is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of basic networking.
- Must be willing and able to work after normal business hours with rotational on call.
- Knowledge of data transmission, fiber optic cables, IP networking, and radio frequency (RF) equipment. Knowledge of the following test equipment is a plus: spectrum analyzers, frequency counters, RF power meters, cable network analyzers, multi-meters, battery test meters, and DS1/DS3/OTDR test sets.
- Previous experience in technical support, installation, or repair of communication equipment.
- Fiber Optic Association (FOA) certifications or specific vendor certifications (e.g., Cisco) are desirable.
- Able to install and replace antenna systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot remote connectivity issues.
- Ability to operate hand tools and power tools in a safe manner including drilling into and attaching equipment to various structures.
- Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel to create and edit documentation for detailed record keeping.
- Fiber optic experience is a plus.
Pre-Employment Requirements:
- Subject to pre-employment background check and motor vehicle report review.
- Maintain a valid driver’s license and endorsements as required per position.
- Pass pre-employment DOT physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen due to the safety sensitive nature of this position.
- This position requires you to pass and maintain a DOT medical evaluation to drive a Herzog commercial vehicle.
- Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis.
Physical Requirements: The physical demands described below must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential job functions of this role. This position will be physically demanding at times. This is a non-exhaustive overview of the physical requirements for this position.
- Lift and transfer weight up to 70 pounds for a distance of up to 100 feet.
- Work in extreme all-weather conditions; uneven surfaces; safety sensitive work environment.
- Able to walk on uneven surfaces up to 1 mile.
- Regularly ascend and descend an 18 step ladder with up to 25 pounds. Frequently climb on/off equipment.
- Regularly push/pull with a body force of up to 50 pounds.
- Use hands to regularly grasp or squeeze wrenches, switches requiring force up to 60 pounds.
- Must successfully pass color/vision examinations as required by the position.
- Must be able to hear and distinguish auditory signals as required by the position.
- Able to work in conditions with loud noise; work on/around heavy/moving machinery.
- Regularly kneel, bend, squat while transferring up to 25 pounds of weight.
- Regularly sit and stand for an extended period of time.
- Work in a confined access/space environment as narrow as 18 inches.
