Which transportation companies sponsor visas in Oregon?
Major visa sponsors include Nike's global logistics operations, UPS distribution centers, FedEx Ground facilities, and BNSF Railway. Regional freight companies like Prologis and Amazon's fulfillment centers also sponsor H-1B and other work visas for logistics engineers, supply chain analysts, and operations managers. Port of Portland occasionally sponsors for specialized maritime positions.
Which visa types are most common for transportation roles in Oregon?
H-1B visas dominate for logistics engineers, supply chain analysts, and transportation planners requiring bachelor's degrees. TN visas work for Canadian and Mexican professionals in qualifying transportation roles. L-1 visas are common for international transfers to Nike, UPS, and other multinationals with Oregon operations. O-1 visas occasionally apply for specialized logistics consultants.
How to find transportation visa sponsorship jobs in Oregon?

Focus on Portland metro companies, Columbia River freight corridors, and major distribution hubs. Many Oregon transportation employers prefer candidates with logistics software experience and West Coast supply chain knowledge, particularly for Asia-Pacific trade routes.
Which cities in Oregon have the most transportation sponsorship jobs?
Portland leads with major distribution centers, freight rail operations, and port facilities. The Columbia River corridor from Portland to The Dalles hosts numerous logistics companies. Eugene offers opportunities with regional carriers and university partnerships. Salem provides state transportation department roles and regional freight operations, though fewer visa sponsorships overall.
What are prevailing wage requirements for transportation jobs in Oregon?
Oregon transportation prevailing wages vary significantly between Portland metro and rural areas. Logistics engineers typically command higher wages in Portland due to cost of living and competition for talent. Rural freight operations may offer lower wages but easier visa approval processes. The state's lack of sales tax can effectively increase take-home pay compared to other West Coast states.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored transportation jobs in Oregon?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
