Which companies sponsor visas for maintenance technicians in Texas?
Large industrial employers are the most consistent sponsors. Companies such as Valero Energy, Dow Chemical, LyondellBasell, and ExxonMobil have filed Labor Condition Applications for maintenance and facilities roles in Texas. Semiconductor manufacturers like Samsung Austin Semiconductors and NXP Semiconductors, along with major utilities and food processing plants, also appear in DOL disclosure data as sponsors for skilled maintenance positions.
Which visa types are most common for maintenance technician roles in Texas?
The H-2B visa is the most commonly used category for temporary maintenance technician roles, particularly in manufacturing, petrochemical, and facilities sectors. For positions requiring a bachelor's degree or its equivalent in a relevant technical field, employers may file H-1B petitions. Some multinational companies with Texas operations also use L-1B visas for specialized-knowledge maintenance personnel transferred from overseas facilities.
Which cities in Texas have the most maintenance technician sponsorship jobs?
Houston leads by a wide margin, driven by its concentration of petrochemical refineries, energy infrastructure, and industrial manufacturing along the Ship Channel. San Antonio and Corpus Christi also generate consistent openings tied to refining and military contracting. Austin's growing semiconductor and advanced manufacturing sector has added sponsored maintenance roles, and Dallas-Fort Worth's distribution and aerospace facilities round out the top markets.
How to find maintenance technician visa sponsorship jobs in Texas?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters maintenance technician openings in Texas by visa sponsorship availability, so you're not sifting through listings that won't consider work authorization. The platform surfaces roles from industrial, energy, and manufacturing employers across Houston, San Antonio, Austin, and Dallas-Fort Worth, helping you identify which companies are actively sponsoring rather than guessing from general job boards.
Are there any Texas-specific considerations for maintenance technician visa sponsorship?
Texas's dominant industries, particularly oil and gas, petrochemicals, and semiconductor manufacturing, shape what qualifications employers emphasize. Many facilities require OSHA certifications, specific equipment credentials, or experience with industrial control systems, and employers factor these into prevailing wage determinations filed with the DOL. Texas has no state income tax, which affects total compensation comparisons, and some rural plant sites may require relocation that candidates should assess before applying.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored maintenance technician jobs in Texas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
