About The Role
Base is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to contribute to the design and launch of manufacturing lines to produce our cutting-edge battery storage systems. In this role you will work with cross-functional teams throughout the lifecycle of the product to develop high quality and efficient manufacturing equipment and processes that will produce Base Power’s battery storage products.
What You’ll Do
- Develop equipment, fixtures, and processes to support early-stage prototype builds and scale for high-volume production
- Determine and procure necessary equipment for all manufacturing processes, collaborating with integrators to design and manufacture semi-auto to fully automated manufacturing equipment
- Manage suppliers through specification, design, buyoff, and installation of manufacturing equipment
- Design efficient production workstation layouts to enhance product flow, ergonomics, and efficiency while conducting process analysis, DOE, PFMEA, line balancing, and capacity modeling/simulation
- Provide DFM (design for manufacturability) input to improve processes and yield outcomes
- Create detailed manufacturing instructions and documentation to train technicians, implement new processes, and ensure smooth handoff to production operations
What You’ll Bring
- 5+ years of experience as a hands-on Mechanical/Manufacturing/Design Engineer working on mechanical and/or electromechanical systems
- Experience using 2D CAD tools for conceptual line design (AutoCAD) and 3D design for mechanical equipment, fixturing, and tooling (SolidWorks or CATIA)
- Experience with conveyance, workstation design, robotic systems, adhesive dispensing, DC fastening tools, or automated functional testing
- Experience with GD&T and system stack up analysis
- Experience creating technical specifications for automated manufacturing equipment
- Experience providing Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Automation (DFA)
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience
