INTRODUCTION
It started with a simple idea: what if surgery could be less invasive and recovery less painful? Nearly 30 years later, that question still fuels everything we do at Intuitive. As a global leader in robotic-assisted surgery and minimally invasive care, our technologies—like the da Vinci surgical system and Ion—have transformed how care is delivered for millions of patients worldwide.
We’re a team of engineers, clinicians, and innovators united by one purpose: to make surgery smarter, safer, and more human. Every day, our work helps care teams perform with greater precision and patients recover faster, improving outcomes around the world.
The problems we solve demand creativity, rigor, and collaboration. The work is challenging, but deeply meaningful—because every improvement we make has the potential to change a life.

Which companies sponsor visas for manufacturing engineers in Virginia?
Virginia's largest manufacturing engineer visa sponsors include Northrop Grumman, BAE Systems, Rolls-Royce North America, Raytheon, and Micron Technology. Defense and aerospace contractors concentrated in Northern Virginia and Hampton Roads represent the most active sponsoring segment, followed by semiconductor and electronics manufacturers expanding in the Richmond and Charlottesville areas. Many of these employers have dedicated immigration support teams and sponsor H-1B visa, L-1 visa, and TN visas regularly.
Which visa types are most common for manufacturing engineer roles in Virginia?
The H-1B is the most common visa for manufacturing engineers in Virginia, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at minimum a bachelor's degree in mechanical, industrial, or manufacturing engineering. TN visas are available to Canadian and Mexican nationals with qualifying engineering degrees. L-1B intracompany transfer visas are also used by large defense and aerospace contractors with international operations to bring experienced engineers into Virginia facilities.
How to find manufacturing engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Virginia?
Migrate Mate filters manufacturing engineer jobs in Virginia specifically by visa sponsorship status, so you're not sifting through postings from employers who don't sponsor. The platform surfaces roles from defense contractors, automotive suppliers, and semiconductor manufacturers across Northern Virginia, Richmond, and the Shenandoah Valley. Search for manufacturing engineer roles on Migrate Mate and filter by Virginia to see current openings from employers with active sponsorship histories.
Which cities in Virginia have the most manufacturing engineer sponsorship jobs?
Northern Virginia, particularly the Fairfax and Arlington corridor, leads for manufacturing engineer sponsorship due to its concentration of defense and aerospace contractors. Richmond and Henrico County have a growing electronics and pharmaceutical manufacturing base. Hampton Roads, anchored by Newport News Shipbuilding and the region's naval industry, generates consistent demand for manufacturing and process engineers. Roanoke and the Shenandoah Valley also have automotive and industrial manufacturing employers that sponsor visas.
Are there state-specific factors manufacturing engineers should know about Virginia sponsorship jobs?
Virginia's defense contracting sector requires security clearances for many roles, which can affect visa sponsorship timelines since clearances are generally only available to U.S. citizens or permanent residents. International engineers on H-1B visas are typically placed in non-classified manufacturing or production engineering roles while pursuing long-term permanent residency. Virginia's strong pipeline from Virginia Tech and George Mason University in engineering disciplines means employers are familiar with sponsoring new graduates, particularly through OPT to H-1B transitions.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored manufacturing engineer jobs in Virginia?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
