Which companies sponsor visas for principal engineers in Texas?
Several large employers in Texas have established records of sponsoring work visas for principal engineers. Dell Technologies and NXP Semiconductors in Austin, AT&T and Toyota Connected in Dallas, and Amazon Web Services across multiple Texas locations regularly file H-1B visa petitions for senior engineering talent. In Houston, companies in the energy technology and aerospace sectors, including HP Inc. and Schlumberger, also sponsor at this level.
Which visa types are most common for principal engineer roles in Texas?
The H-1B is the most common visa for principal engineers in Texas, as the role typically requires a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field, meeting the specialty occupation standard. Experienced principal engineers may also qualify for the O-1A if they have demonstrated extraordinary achievement. Those transferring within multinational companies may use the L-1A or L-1B depending on their capacity.
Which cities in Texas have the most principal engineer sponsorship jobs?
Austin leads the state for principal engineer sponsorship activity, driven by a dense concentration of semiconductor, software, and cloud computing employers. Dallas-Fort Worth ranks second, with strong demand from telecom, financial technology, and enterprise software companies. Houston contributes a meaningful share through energy technology, aerospace, and medical device firms. San Antonio has a growing cybersecurity and defense technology sector that also produces senior engineering openings.
How to find principal engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Texas?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers looking for visa sponsorship roles, and you can filter directly by job title and state to surface principal engineer positions in Texas. Because principal engineer is a senior-level title, postings on Migrate Mate tend to come from employers with active sponsorship programs rather than exploratory listings. Checking regularly as new roles are added gives you the best shot at finding current openings from verified sponsoring companies.
Are there state-specific factors that affect principal engineer visa sponsorship in Texas?
Texas has no state income tax, which influences how employers structure compensation packages, but it does not affect federal visa prevailing wage requirements. The Department of Labor sets prevailing wage levels for principal engineer roles by metropolitan area, so Austin, Dallas, and Houston each have distinct wage benchmarks that sponsoring employers must meet. Texas also has strong university pipelines through UT Austin and Texas A&M, meaning competition for sponsorship slots at top employers can be significant.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored principal engineer jobs in Texas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
