Which companies sponsor visas for security engineers in Texas?
Several large Texas-based employers have consistent records of sponsoring security engineers, including Dell Technologies and NXP Semiconductors in Austin, AT&T and Texas Instruments in Dallas, and Raytheon Technologies in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Energy companies like ExxonMobil and large healthcare systems in Houston also sponsor security engineering roles. Cybersecurity-focused firms and federal defense contractors operating across the state are also active sponsors.
Which visa types are most common for security engineer roles in Texas?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa for security engineers in Texas, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, information security, or a related field. Some employers also sponsor L-1B visas for intracompany transfers with specialized knowledge. Candidates with an approved I-140 may work under H-1B extensions while pursuing permanent residence through EB-2 or EB-3 employment-based green card pathways.
How to find security engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Texas?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters security engineer roles in Texas by visa sponsorship willingness, saving time you'd otherwise spend screening out employers who don't sponsor. You can search by city, filter for H-1B or other visa types, and see which Texas employers have active openings. Because security engineering is in high demand across Austin, Dallas, and Houston, new sponsored roles appear regularly on the platform.
Which cities in Texas have the most security engineer sponsorship jobs?
Austin leads for security engineer sponsorship due to its concentration of technology companies and startups. Dallas-Fort Worth is close behind, anchored by telecom giants, financial services firms, and defense contractors that regularly sponsor. Houston offers sponsorship opportunities through energy sector companies, healthcare systems, and aerospace employers. San Antonio has a growing cybersecurity hub connected to its large military presence and federal contractor ecosystem, making it a notable option as well.
Are there any Texas-specific considerations for security engineer visa sponsorship?
Security engineer roles tied to defense or federal government contracts in Texas may require security clearances, which are generally only available to U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents. This narrows sponsorship availability at certain contractors. However, many commercial employers in Austin's tech sector and Dallas's financial services industry have no clearance requirement and sponsor foreign nationals regularly. Texas also hosts several university pipelines, including UT Austin and Texas A&M, that feed sponsored talent into the state's cybersecurity workforce.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored security engineer jobs in Texas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
