Which companies sponsor visas for technical leads in Texas?
Several large employers in Texas have established visa sponsorship programs for technical leads. Dell Technologies in Round Rock, AT&T and Texas Instruments in Dallas, and Amazon and Apple in Austin are among the most active sponsors. Houston's energy sector, including companies like Schlumberger and Halliburton, also sponsors technical leads for engineering-heavy platform and systems roles.
Which visa types are most common for technical lead roles in Texas?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa for technical leads in Texas, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, engineering, or a related field. Candidates with extraordinary ability may qualify for the O-1A. Canadians and Mexicans in qualifying engineering roles may also be eligible for the TN visa.
Which cities in Texas have the most technical lead sponsorship jobs?
Austin has become Texas's primary technology hub, with the highest concentration of technical lead sponsorship opportunities across software, cloud, and semiconductor companies. Dallas follows closely, anchored by AT&T, Texas Instruments, and a dense corridor of financial technology firms. Houston offers sponsorship in energy technology and enterprise software, particularly for leads with infrastructure or systems backgrounds.
How to find technical lead visa sponsorship jobs in Texas?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship status, making it practical to search for technical lead roles in Texas without manually screening each posting. You can filter by state and role type to surface positions at employers who have sponsored H-1B and other work visas for technical leads in cities like Austin, Dallas, and Houston.
Are there any Texas-specific considerations for technical leads seeking visa sponsorship?
Texas has no state income tax, which affects prevailing wage comparisons during H-1B Labor Condition Application filings. The Department of Labor sets prevailing wages by metropolitan area, so Austin, Dallas, and Houston each have distinct wage levels for technical lead roles. Texas also has a strong university pipeline through UT Austin and Texas A&M, which feeds local employer sponsorship programs, particularly for F-1 OPT transitions.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored technical lead jobs in Texas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
