Search Communications Jobs in UtahCommunications Jobs in Utah: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies in Utah sponsor visas for communications roles?
Adobe's Salt Lake City office, Qualtrics, Pluralsight, and several health systems including Intermountain Health have filed H-1B labor condition applications for communications-adjacent roles. Larger technology employers in the Silicon Slopes corridor are generally more experienced with visa sponsorship than smaller agencies or nonprofit organizations, making them the more reliable targets for international candidates in communications.
What visa types are most common for communications professionals in Utah?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for communications roles in Utah, particularly for positions requiring a specialized degree in communications, public relations, or marketing. Roles must qualify as specialty occupations under USCIS standards, meaning a specific bachelor's degree in a relevant field is typically required. The O-1A is an alternative for candidates with demonstrated extraordinary achievement, though it carries a higher evidentiary bar.
How to find communications visa sponsorship jobs in Utah?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship status, so you can browse communications roles in Utah without sorting through positions that won't support international candidates. Search for titles like communications specialist, public relations manager, or content strategist filtered to Utah. Employers in Salt Lake City and the Provo-Orem area post the highest volume of sponsorship-eligible communications openings on the platform.
Which Utah cities have the most communications sponsorship jobs?
Salt Lake City accounts for the largest share of communications sponsorship opportunities in Utah, driven by its concentration of technology companies, healthcare systems, and corporate headquarters. Provo and Orem, within the Silicon Slopes corridor, are a close second, particularly for content and digital communications roles at software companies. Smaller markets like Ogden and St. George have limited sponsorship activity in this field.
Are there any Utah-specific considerations for communications visa sponsorship?
Utah's Department of Labor prevailing wage determinations apply to all H-1B positions, and employers must certify the offered compensation meets the required wage level for the specific metropolitan area. Salt Lake City and Provo fall under separate wage determinations. The University of Utah and Brigham Young University both produce communications graduates, meaning employers have a strong local candidate pool, which can affect how aggressively they pursue international sponsorship for entry-level roles.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored communications jobs in Utah?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
