Which companies sponsor visas for program directors in Vermont?
The most active visa sponsors for program director roles in Vermont are healthcare systems and universities. The University of Vermont Medical Center, UVM (the university itself), Middlebury College, and Dartmouth Health's Vermont affiliates have sponsored H-1B visa workers in program management and administrative leadership roles. Larger nonprofits and federally funded research organizations in Burlington and Montpelier also appear in Department of Labor LCA disclosure data for this role type.
Which visa types are most common for program director roles in Vermont?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for program directors in Vermont, provided the role requires at minimum a bachelor's degree in a specific field such as public health, education administration, or a related discipline. Some academic institutions also use the J-1 visa exchange visitor category for program roles tied to research or educational exchange. TN visa status can apply to Canadian and Mexican nationals if the role fits a qualifying USMCA occupation category.
How to find program director visa sponsorship jobs in Vermont?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship willingness, so you can search program director roles in Vermont without wading through positions that won't consider international candidates. Because Vermont's sponsoring employer pool is smaller than major metro states, setting up alerts for Burlington and Montpelier on Migrate Mate helps you catch openings at UVM, regional healthcare networks, and nonprofit organizations as soon as they're posted.
Which cities in Vermont have the most program director sponsorship jobs?
Burlington accounts for the largest share of program director sponsorship activity in Vermont, driven by the University of Vermont, UVM Medical Center, and a concentration of nonprofits and health organizations. Montpelier, as the state capital, hosts government-adjacent program roles at state agencies and policy organizations. South Burlington and Winooski also see some activity given their proximity to Burlington's institutional employers.
Are there state-specific considerations for program directors seeking visa sponsorship in Vermont?
Vermont's small employer base means fewer organizations have established immigration sponsorship infrastructure compared to larger states. Many sponsoring institutions are in education, healthcare, or government-adjacent sectors where roles are tied to grant funding, which can affect position stability and the employer's ability to commit to multi-year sponsorship. Candidates with advanced degrees in public health, social work, or education administration tend to align most closely with Vermont's available program director openings.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored program director jobs in Vermont?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
