The Department of Physics in the College of Engineering and Mathematical Sciences at the University of Vermont (UVM) invites applications for a faculty position at the rank of Professor (with tenure), or Associate Professor (tenure-track or with tenure) with an anticipated start date of August 23, 2027.
We seek an accomplished scholar with a Ph.D. in Physics or a closely related field and a distinguished record of research, teaching, mentorship, and externally funded scholarship. Candidates should demonstrate excellence in interdisciplinary research, the ability to teach undergraduate and graduate physics courses, and experience mentoring graduate students. Candidates must have strong potential to build new collaborative teams and synergies at the intersections of current areas of research and scholarly strength at the University.
The successful candidate will strengthen the department’s research programs in condensed matter physics and biophysics, with preference given to applicants whose expertise includes computational semiconductor materials and physics. Outstanding candidates demonstrating an ability to lead interdisciplinary research efforts in semiconductor science or related topics may be eligible for an endowed professorship.
