Which companies sponsor visas for nurse practitioners in Washington?
Washington's largest nurse practitioner visa sponsors include UW Medicine, Providence Health and Services, MultiCare Health System, Virginia Mason Franciscan Health, and Seattle Children's. Federally Qualified Health Centers across the state also sponsor NPs, particularly for positions in underserved rural and urban communities. Hospital systems with active international recruitment programs tend to have more established sponsorship infrastructure than smaller private practices.
Which visa types are most common for nurse practitioner roles in Washington?
The H-1B visa is the most common pathway for nurse practitioners in Washington, as NP roles generally qualify as specialty occupations requiring a graduate-level degree. The EB-3 employment-based green card is also widely used for permanent sponsorship. Some NPs working in federally designated shortage areas pursue the Conrad 30 J-1 visa waiver pathway, which allows J-1 physicians and certain clinicians to convert status in exchange for service commitments.
Which cities in Washington have the most nurse practitioner sponsorship jobs?
Seattle accounts for the largest share of nurse practitioner sponsorship activity in Washington, driven by its concentration of major hospital networks and specialty clinics. Spokane is the second-largest market, with health systems like Providence and MultiCare actively recruiting. Tacoma, Bellevue, and Olympia also have consistent NP demand. Rural areas in eastern Washington, including Yakima and the Tri-Cities, see targeted hiring due to federally designated shortage area designations.
How to find nurse practitioner visa sponsorship jobs in Washington?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for internationally trained clinicians looking for visa sponsorship roles, including nurse practitioner positions in Washington. You can filter by state and role to see active NP openings at Washington employers that have a history of sponsoring international candidates. This removes the guesswork of identifying which employers are open to sponsorship, which is one of the biggest barriers NPs face when job searching across state lines.
Are there any Washington-specific considerations for nurse practitioners seeking visa sponsorship?
Washington requires nurse practitioners to hold a valid Washington State RN license and a separate ARNP (Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner) credential before practicing, regardless of immigration status. International NPs must have their foreign nursing education reviewed by a credentialing body such as CGFNS before licensure. Washington's concentration of Health Professional Shortage Areas can create additional sponsorship incentives for employers in those designations, particularly for full-time primary care NP roles.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored nurse practitioner jobs in Washington?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
