Which companies sponsor visas for nurse practitioners in Pennsylvania?
Large integrated health systems are the most active visa sponsors for nurse practitioners in Pennsylvania. UPMC, Penn Medicine, Jefferson Health, Temple Health, and Geisinger Health System have all sponsored H-1B visa petitions for advanced practice nursing roles. Smaller regional hospitals and federally qualified health centers (FQHCs) also sponsor periodically, particularly in underserved areas where NP recruitment is competitive.
Which visa types are most common for nurse practitioner roles in Pennsylvania?
The H-1B is the most common visa for nurse practitioners in Pennsylvania, as the NP role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a master's degree. EB-3 immigrant visas are also used for permanent sponsorship pathways. Some internationally trained NPs on TN visas (Canadian or Mexican citizens) work in Pennsylvania as well, provided their role and credentials align with TN requirements.
Which cities in Pennsylvania have the most nurse practitioner sponsorship jobs?
Philadelphia and Pittsburgh account for the largest share of nurse practitioner sponsorship opportunities in Pennsylvania, driven by their concentration of academic medical centers and hospital networks. Harrisburg, Allentown, and Reading also have active NP hiring markets. Rural and semi-rural regions across central and western Pennsylvania show growing demand, particularly through Geisinger and regional critical access hospitals recruiting for primary care NP positions.
How to find nurse practitioner visa sponsorship jobs in Pennsylvania?
Migrate Mate filters nurse practitioner job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to identify Pennsylvania employers actively open to sponsoring international candidates. Because NP sponsorship depends heavily on individual employer policies, searching Migrate Mate for nurse practitioner roles in Pennsylvania lets you focus on postings where sponsorship is already part of the hiring conversation, saving time over general job searches.
Are there state-specific considerations for nurse practitioners seeking visa sponsorship in Pennsylvania?
Pennsylvania requires nurse practitioners to hold a state-issued NP license and a collaborative agreement with a physician, though full practice authority legislation has been debated. International NPs must ensure their foreign nursing credentials are evaluated and that they meet Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing requirements before an employer can proceed with sponsorship. CGFNS credential evaluation is a common prerequisite for foreign-trained nurses entering Pennsylvania's licensure process.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored nurse practitioner jobs in Pennsylvania?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
