Which companies sponsor visas for dermatologists in Wisconsin?
The most active sponsors for dermatologist roles in Wisconsin include UW Health (affiliated with the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health), Froedtert Health, Advocate Aurora Health, Marshfield Clinic Health System, and Gundersen Health System. Federally Qualified Health Centers operating in underserved Wisconsin communities also sponsor dermatologists, particularly through J-1 Conrad State 30 waiver positions tied to medically underserved area service commitments.
Which visa types are most common for dermatologist roles in Wisconsin?
H-1B is the most common visa for board-certified or residency-trained dermatologists joining Wisconsin health systems, as the specialty occupation requirement is well established for physician roles. J-1 Conrad State 30 waivers are widely used for dermatologists agreeing to practice in Health Professional Shortage Areas. O-1A visas are available for dermatologists with research publications, academic appointments, or national recognition, and are not subject to the H-1B annual cap.
How to find dermatologist visa sponsorship jobs in Wisconsin?
Migrate Mate filters dermatologist job listings in Wisconsin specifically to employers with active visa sponsorship history, saving you from sorting through postings that don't support international candidates. You can search by city, health system, or visa type to identify openings at UW Health, Marshfield Clinic, and other Wisconsin sponsors. Migrate Mate surfaces LCA and DOL filing data by employer so you can verify sponsorship activity before applying.
Which cities in Wisconsin have the most dermatologist sponsorship jobs?
Madison and Milwaukee account for the majority of sponsored dermatologist positions in Wisconsin, driven by academic medical centers and large integrated health systems headquartered in both cities. Green Bay, Appleton, and Wausau see periodic openings through Aurora and Marshfield Clinic regional campuses. Rural and underserved areas across northern and central Wisconsin often recruit internationally trained dermatologists through J-1 waiver programs tied to shortage area designations.
Are there state-specific considerations for internationally trained dermatologists pursuing Wisconsin sponsorship?
Wisconsin requires a full medical license from the Wisconsin Medical Examining Board before practicing independently, and international medical graduates must meet the same USMLE and residency completion standards as U.S. graduates. Dermatology is classified under Standard Occupational Code 29-1223 by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, and Wisconsin employers must certify the offered wage meets the DOL prevailing wage level for that SOC code and location before filing an H-1B or J-1 waiver petition. Candidates can verify wage levels using the OFLC Wage Search.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored dermatologist jobs in Wisconsin?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
