Search Driver Jobs in WisconsinDriver Jobs in Wisconsin: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies sponsor visas for drivers in Wisconsin?
Schneider National, based in Green Bay, is one of the most prominent Wisconsin employers with a history of sponsoring commercial drivers. Large distribution and logistics operators tied to Wisconsin's manufacturing and dairy supply chains also appear in sponsorship records. Staffing firms that place CDL drivers with regional carriers are another source, though sponsorship availability varies by employer and position type.
Which visa types are most common for driver roles in Wisconsin?
H-2B visas are used by some employers for temporary non-agricultural workers, including certain driving roles, when they can demonstrate a shortage of available U.S. workers. H-1B visas are generally not applicable to CDL driver positions, as the role typically does not meet the specialty occupation requirement. TN visa status covers specific professional categories and does not apply to commercial driving. Always confirm visa eligibility with a qualified immigration attorney.
Which cities in Wisconsin have the most driver sponsorship jobs?
Milwaukee is the largest hiring market for drivers in Wisconsin, given its port activity, distribution infrastructure, and dense population. Green Bay follows closely, anchored by Schneider National's headquarters and the region's strong manufacturing and food processing sectors. Madison and Kenosha also see consistent demand, particularly for last-mile delivery and intermodal freight roles connected to the broader Chicago-Milwaukee corridor.
How to find driver visa sponsorship jobs in Wisconsin?
Migrate Mate is designed specifically for international job seekers and filters driver roles in Wisconsin by visa sponsorship availability, saving you the time of manually vetting each posting. You can search by location, role type, and visa category to find openings from employers who have a documented history of sponsoring workers. Migrate Mate is the most direct way to connect with Wisconsin driver jobs where sponsorship is explicitly on the table.
Are there state-specific considerations for driver visa sponsorship in Wisconsin?
Wisconsin requires a valid Commercial Driver's License for most heavy vehicle roles, and international applicants must ensure their foreign license credentials are properly converted or recognized before beginning work. Wisconsin's economy is heavily tied to freight, dairy, and manufacturing logistics, meaning demand for drivers is fairly consistent year-round. Employers filing H-2B petitions must meet Department of Labor prevailing wage requirements specific to the occupation and county of employment.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored driver jobs in Wisconsin?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
