Which companies sponsor visas for drivers in Tennessee?
Large trucking and logistics companies with Tennessee operations are the most active sponsors for driver roles. FedEx, with its major hub in Memphis, along with national carriers such as Werner Enterprises and Schneider National, have histories of sponsoring commercial drivers. Regional distribution centers in Nashville and Chattanooga also hire sponsored drivers, particularly for CDL-required positions tied to long-term operational contracts.
Which visa types are most common for driver roles in Tennessee?
The H-2B visa is the most common nonimmigrant pathway for seasonal or temporary driver positions, covering roles that are not agricultural in nature. For permanent commercial driving positions, employer-sponsored EB-3 immigrant visas apply, particularly for truck drivers classified under skilled or unskilled worker categories. TN visa status can cover certain transportation management roles for Canadian and Mexican nationals, but standard CDL driver positions generally do not qualify under TN.
Which cities in Tennessee have the most driver sponsorship jobs?
Memphis leads Tennessee for driver sponsorship opportunities due to its position as a major freight and logistics hub, anchored by FedEx's world headquarters and extensive intermodal freight infrastructure. Nashville follows closely, with growing distribution activity tied to its rapid population expansion. Chattanooga, positioned along I-24 and I-75, serves as a key trucking corridor city with steady demand from manufacturing and logistics employers in the region.
How to find driver visa sponsorship jobs in Tennessee?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship status, making it straightforward to identify Tennessee driver openings where employers are actively willing to sponsor. Search by role type and state to surface CDL driver, delivery driver, and logistics driver positions from carriers and distribution companies operating across Memphis, Nashville, and Chattanooga. Migrate Mate removes the guesswork of identifying which employers will support a work visa application.
Are there state-specific considerations for driver visa sponsorship in Tennessee?
Tennessee requires commercial drivers to hold a valid CDL issued by the state, which means sponsored workers typically need to transfer or obtain a Tennessee CDL after arrival. Employers sponsoring drivers under federal visa programs must comply with Department of Labor prevailing wage requirements, which are benchmarked to the Memphis, Nashville, or Knoxville metropolitan areas depending on the work location. Drivers in unionized freight operations may find additional protections and standardized compensation structures.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored driver jobs in Tennessee?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
