ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a safety-minded CDL-A Line Haul Driver based in the Salt Lake City, UT area.

We are looking for you!

• Compensation: $33.00/hr (Plus overtime availability)
• Schedule: 4-Day Workweek | Monday-Thursday (Friday-Sunday Off)
• Shift: Early morning dispatch on Monday (typically before 5:00 AM)
• Travel Territory: Dedicated corridor between Salt Lake City, UT and Cheyenne, WY, plus local valley shuttle routes (Tooele, UT)

Airgas is looking for a dedicated Class A Line Haul / Shuttle Driver to transport palletized gas cylinders and materials between regional branches and production facilities.

Unlike multi-stop retail delivery routes, this position features dedicated point-to-point shuttle operations. Trucks are loaded and unloaded exclusively by forklift teams at each plant. You are paid hourly rather than by the mile, reinforcing a safety-first culture where careful navigation through mountain passes is valued over speed.

• Dedicated flatbed tractor-trailers hauling locking pallet systems (no tarping).
• Modern tractors equipped with in-cab switch-activated automatic tire chains—no throwing chains in the snow.
• Company-issued cell phone provided

Important Note: This position operates on a dedicated 4-day schedule (Monday through Thursday) with 1 scheduled overnight layover in Cheyenne, WY each week.

Travel & Accommodation Perks

• Predictable Weekly Schedule: Depart Salt Lake Monday morning, layover Monday night in Cheyenne, return to Salt Lake Tuesday, and run local shuttles Wednesday and Thursday (enjoying 3-day weekends off Friday-Sunday).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Shuttle Operations: Safely operate a Class A tractor-trailer transport between regional Airgas branches and specialty gas production facilities (dedicated Salt Lake to Cheyenne corridor).
• Load Verification & DOT Compliance: Verify cylinder counts and load paperwork, ensure DOT placards and labels are accurate, and secure pallet locks/ratchet straps prior to departure.
• Vehicle Inspections: Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections in compliance with DOT regulations and Airgas safety standards.
• Safety & Weather Preparedness: Maintain safe operations across high-elevation mountain routes (I-80), utilizing cab-deployed auto-chains when required.

ARE YOU A MATCH?

Required Qualifications:

• Must hold a Class A CDL with Tanker and Hazmat endorsements and no restrictions.
• No more than 2 traffic convictions or at-fault accidents within the last 3 years.
• No driving while under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance within the last 7 years.
• Ability to work in a drug-free environment.
• 1 year of CDL driving experience in the last 5 years OR a Certificate of Completion from a trucking school (completed in the last 12 months).

Preferred Qualifications:

• 2+ years of commercial Class A driving experience strongly preferred
• Winter driving and mountain pass experience strongly preferred.
