Which companies sponsor visas for engineering interns in Wisconsin?
Wisconsin employers with established engineering intern programs include Rockwell Automation in Milwaukee, Epic Systems in Verona, Kohler Co. in Kohler, Johnson Controls in Glendale, and Kimberly-Clark in Neenah. These companies operate in advanced manufacturing, software, and industrial systems, sectors where engineering intern sponsorship is relatively more common due to recurring technical hiring needs.
Which visa types are most common for engineering intern roles in Wisconsin?
Most international engineering interns in Wisconsin work under F-1 OPT or CPT, which allows students at U.S. universities to work without a separate employer sponsorship petition. STEM-designated programs can extend OPT to 36 months. For non-students, H-1B visa is the primary work visa, though it requires a lottery selection and is employer-petitioned rather than intern-initiated.
Which cities in Wisconsin have the most engineering intern sponsorship jobs?
Milwaukee and Madison account for the largest share of engineering intern openings in Wisconsin. Milwaukee's manufacturing and industrial base draws interns into mechanical, electrical, and systems engineering roles. Madison's concentration of technology and biotech employers, anchored partly by proximity to UW-Madison, generates openings in software and biomedical engineering. Appleton and Green Bay also have active manufacturing pipelines.
How to find engineering intern visa sponsorship jobs in Wisconsin?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters engineering intern roles by sponsorship availability and location, making it straightforward to browse Wisconsin-specific opportunities. Rather than sifting through general job postings with no sponsorship signals, Migrate Mate surfaces positions where employers have a documented history of supporting international candidates in engineering intern roles.
Are there state-specific considerations for engineering interns seeking sponsorship in Wisconsin?
Wisconsin's engineering intern market is closely tied to its university system. UW-Madison, Milwaukee School of Engineering, and Marquette University have co-op and intern pipelines that connect directly to local employers. Many Wisconsin manufacturers have experience with CPT and OPT arrangements through these partnerships. STEM-field interns benefit from the 36-month OPT extension, which gives employers a longer window to assess candidates before committing to H-1B sponsorship.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored engineering intern jobs in Wisconsin?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
