Which companies sponsor visas for program specialists in Wisconsin?
The University of Wisconsin System is one of the most consistent sponsors of program specialist roles in Wisconsin, along with large healthcare organizations like UW Health and Froedtert Health. State agencies, research institutions, and nonprofits based in Madison and Milwaukee also sponsor international candidates, particularly for roles in public health, education administration, and grant-funded programs.
Which visa types are most common for program specialist roles in Wisconsin?
The H-1B is the most common visa for program specialist roles in Wisconsin, provided the position qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a relevant bachelor's degree or higher. Universities and research institutions may also offer J-1 exchange visitor placements for certain program roles. Candidates already holding OPT or STEM OPT authorization are frequently considered by Wisconsin employers before full H-1B sponsorship is pursued.
Which cities in Wisconsin have the most program specialist sponsorship jobs?
Madison has the highest concentration of program specialist sponsorship opportunities in Wisconsin, driven by the University of Wisconsin-Madison, state government agencies, and Epic Systems. Milwaukee is the second-largest hub, with healthcare systems, nonprofits, and county government offices actively hiring. Green Bay and Appleton have smaller but growing program coordination roles, particularly in healthcare and social services.
How to find program specialist visa sponsorship jobs in Wisconsin?
Migrate Mate filters program specialist roles in Wisconsin specifically by visa sponsorship availability, saving you from manually screening hundreds of postings. You can browse current openings from UW System campuses, healthcare networks, and nonprofits that have confirmed sponsorship capacity. Migrate Mate's filters let you narrow by location within Wisconsin, making it easier to target Madison or Milwaukee based on your preferences and background.
Are there state-specific considerations for program specialists seeking sponsorship in Wisconsin?
Wisconsin's large public university system and substantial nonprofit sector mean many program specialist roles are funded through federal or state grants, which can affect hiring timelines and sponsorship decisions. Employers must meet Department of Labor prevailing wage requirements for the Madison or Milwaukee metropolitan areas, which differ from rural Wisconsin rates. Candidates with experience in public health, education policy, or federally funded programs tend to align well with Wisconsin's dominant sponsoring employers.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored program specialist jobs in Wisconsin?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
