Which companies sponsor visas for project architects in Wisconsin?
Several established Wisconsin architecture and engineering firms have sponsored visas for project architects, including Eppstein Uhen Architects, Kahler Slater, Potter Lawson, and Graef. Larger national firms with Wisconsin offices, such as HDR and Jacobs, also have documented H-1B sponsorship histories. Healthcare-focused and higher education clients tend to drive the most active hiring at these firms, which correlates with more consistent sponsorship activity.
Which visa types are most common for project architect roles in Wisconsin?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for project architects in Wisconsin, as architecture consistently qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in architecture. Candidates with Canadian or Mexican citizenship may pursue the TN visa under the USMCA, which lists architects as a qualifying profession. Australian citizens with relevant qualifications may also explore the E-3 visa as an alternative to the H-1B.
Which cities in Wisconsin have the most project architect sponsorship jobs?
Milwaukee generates the largest share of project architect sponsorship opportunities in Wisconsin, driven by ongoing commercial, healthcare, and mixed-use development. Madison is the second most active market, supported by University of Wisconsin campus projects and state government facilities work. Green Bay and Kenosha see smaller but steady demand, particularly tied to manufacturing facility design and regional commercial development.
How to find project architect visa sponsorship jobs in Wisconsin?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for visa sponsorship eligibility, making it easier to identify project architect roles in Wisconsin without sorting through positions that don't sponsor. You can search by role and state to surface openings at firms with active sponsorship histories. Because Wisconsin's architecture market is mid-sized, setting alerts on Migrate Mate for new postings helps since relevant sponsored roles open less frequently than in coastal metros.
Are there state-specific considerations for project architects seeking sponsorship in Wisconsin?
Wisconsin requires project architects to hold a state license through the Department of Safety and Professional Services, though H-1B petitions can be filed before full licensure is obtained. The Department of Labor's prevailing wage determinations for architecture roles in Wisconsin vary by metropolitan statistical area, with Milwaukee wages benchmarked higher than rural counties. Wisconsin's heavy focus on healthcare and higher education projects means firms often seek architects with experience in those specific building types.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored project architect jobs in Wisconsin?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
