Which companies sponsor visas for systems engineers in Wisconsin?
Rockwell Automation in Milwaukee is one of the most active sponsors for systems engineers in Wisconsin, given its focus on industrial automation and control systems. Epic Systems in Verona, GE Healthcare in Wauwatosa, and Harley-Davidson also appear in federal LCA disclosure data with systems engineering filings. Defense contractors and manufacturing firms in the Fox Valley region round out the sponsoring employer pool.
Which visa types are most common for systems engineer roles in Wisconsin?
The H-1B is the most common visa for systems engineers in Wisconsin, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field. Some employers, particularly those with global operations like Rockwell Automation or GE Healthcare, also sponsor L-1B intracompany transfers for engineers relocating from overseas offices. TN status is available to Canadian and Mexican engineers under USMCA.
Which cities in Wisconsin have the most systems engineer sponsorship jobs?
Milwaukee and its suburbs, including Wauwatosa and Brookfield, account for the largest share of systems engineer sponsorship activity in Wisconsin, driven by Rockwell Automation, GE Healthcare, and Johnson Controls. Madison is the second-strongest market, anchored by Epic Systems and the University of Wisconsin's research enterprise. The Fox Valley corridor, including Appleton and Oshkosh, supports additional opportunities in advanced manufacturing and industrial systems.
How to find systems engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Wisconsin?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find systems engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Wisconsin, with listings filtered specifically for roles where employers have a documented history of sponsoring work visas. You can narrow results to Wisconsin and systems engineering to surface positions at companies like Rockwell Automation, Epic Systems, and GE Healthcare. Every listing on Migrate Mate is matched to employers with verified sponsorship activity, saving significant research time.
Are there state-specific considerations for systems engineers seeking visa sponsorship in Wisconsin?
Wisconsin's prevailing wage determinations for systems engineers are set at the county level by the Department of Labor, and wages in Milwaukee County tend to be benchmarked higher than rural areas, which affects the LCA your employer files. The University of Wisconsin-Madison produces a strong pipeline of engineering graduates, meaning competition for sponsored roles is real. Employers in Wisconsin's manufacturing and health IT sectors are generally experienced with H-1B sponsorship, which can simplify the process compared to smaller or less experienced companies.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored systems engineer jobs in Wisconsin?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
