Which companies sponsor visas for systems engineers in New Hampshire?
BAE Systems and Raytheon are among the most active sponsors for systems engineers in New Hampshire, particularly for defense and aerospace roles in Nashua and Manchester. Liberty Mutual's technology operations in Dover and smaller defense contractors throughout the state also file H-1B visa petitions for systems engineering positions. Sponsorship activity tends to follow Department of Defense contract cycles in this state.
Which visa types are most common for systems engineer roles in New Hampshire?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for systems engineers in New Hampshire, as the role consistently qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in systems engineering, computer science, or a related field. Candidates with Canadian or Mexican citizenship may qualify for TN visa status under the engineer category. Applicants with extraordinary ability credentials may also explore the O-1A.
Which cities in New Hampshire have the most systems engineer sponsorship jobs?
Nashua and Manchester account for the largest share of systems engineer sponsorship activity in New Hampshire. Nashua's concentration of defense contractors, including BAE Systems and several aerospace suppliers, makes it the primary hub. Manchester follows as the state's largest city with a broader technology employer base. The seacoast area around Portsmouth also sees hiring activity tied to defense and government contracting work.
How to find systems engineer visa sponsorship jobs in New Hampshire?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for roles that include visa sponsorship, making it straightforward to search for systems engineer positions in New Hampshire without sifting through employers who won't sponsor. You can narrow results by location and role to focus on Nashua, Manchester, or Portsmouth. Migrate Mate also surfaces employers with a track record of H-1B filings in the state, which is useful context when evaluating opportunities.
Are there any state-specific considerations for systems engineers seeking sponsorship in New Hampshire?
New Hampshire's systems engineering market is heavily influenced by Department of Defense contracts, which means many roles require or eventually require security clearances. Non-U.S. citizens on work visas are generally not eligible for security clearances, which can limit access to certain positions even at companies that otherwise sponsor visas. Candidates should confirm whether a posted role has a clearance requirement before pursuing it. University of New Hampshire and Southern New Hampshire University contribute some local talent, but most employers also recruit nationally.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored systems engineer jobs in New Hampshire?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
