How you’ll contribute
A Recreational Therapist who excels in this role will perform structured evaluations and develop a treatment plan in conjunction with primary care counselors using therapeutic, recreational, and leisure activities.
What You’ll Do
- Conduct assessment and establish recreational therapy treatment goals and objectives to meet the individual needs of patients.
- Pre-certify patient care.
- Conduct ongoing reviews to authorize continued care.
- Evaluate each patient’s progress and the effectiveness of recreational therapy interventions.
- Formulate a goal-directed plan of care in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary treatment team utilizing assessment data from the interdisciplinary assessment.
- Update treatment plan weekly or more often as needed.
- Coordinate therapeutic recreation activities for both large and small groups to observe patient response and encourage socialization.
- Assist with development of discharge plan in timely and documented standards.
- Provide patients and patients’ families with information regarding leisure lifestyles and creates an awareness of recreational resources in their community.
