Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Visa Sponsorship as a Clinical Program Manager
Lead with your clinical licensure
Many Clinical Program Manager roles require an RN, LCSW, or similar active license alongside your degree. Listing your licensure prominently signals to sponsors that you meet the specialty occupation threshold USCIS requires for H-1B approval.
Target health systems and managed care organizations
Large hospital networks, health plans, and population health companies file LCAs regularly for this role. These employers have established immigration processes and are far more likely to initiate sponsorship than smaller clinics or nonprofits.
Clarify your degree-to-role alignment upfront
USCIS scrutinizes whether your specific degree field matches the position. A master's in public health, nursing, social work, or health administration maps cleanly. Generic business degrees without clinical coursework can draw RFEs from adjudicators.
Demonstrate cross-functional program ownership
Sponsors need evidence this is a specialty occupation, not general management. Emphasize clinical protocol design, quality improvement metrics, and regulatory compliance work. Operational breadth that requires specialized clinical training strengthens the petition significantly.
Ask about LCA timelines early in the process
Employers must file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL before submitting your H-1B petition. Confirming the employer has done this before signals they understand sponsorship mechanics and won't stall your start date unexpectedly.
Consider cap-exempt employers if the lottery is a concern
Universities, nonprofit research hospitals, and federally qualified health centers are cap-exempt H-1B sponsors. Clinical Program Manager roles at these organizations can be filed any time of year, bypassing the annual lottery entirely.

Find Clinical Program Manager JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does the Clinical Program Manager role qualify as a specialty occupation for H-1B purposes?
Yes, in most cases. USCIS generally accepts Clinical Program Manager positions as specialty occupations when the role requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific clinical or health-related field. Roles that require an RN, LCSW, or MPH strengthen the case considerably. Positions described as requiring any bachelor's degree regardless of field are more likely to receive a Request for Evidence.
What degree do I need for employer sponsorship as a Clinical Program Manager?
Most sponsoring employers require at least a bachelor's degree in nursing, public health, social work, health administration, or a closely related clinical field. A master's degree is increasingly common for senior-level program management roles and makes the specialty occupation argument to USCIS more straightforward. Degrees in unrelated fields paired with clinical licensure may still qualify but require stronger documentation.
Which visa types cover Clinical Program Manager roles?
The H-1B is the most common path and covers the vast majority of sponsored Clinical Program Manager positions. Canadians and Mexicans may qualify under the TN visa using the Medical/Health Services Manager category. Applicants with exceptional records in healthcare program leadership could explore the O-1A, though that standard is high. Green card sponsorship through EB-2 or EB-3 is also available for long-term hires.
How do I find Clinical Program Manager jobs that offer visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by sponsorship availability, so you're not sifting through roles that won't consider international candidates. Search for Clinical Program Manager positions on Migrate Mate and filter by visa type to surface employers who have an active sponsorship track record, including both cap-subject and cap-exempt organizations.
Can I transfer my H-1B to a new Clinical Program Manager employer if I change jobs?
Yes. H-1B portability lets you start working for a new employer as soon as they file a transfer petition, without waiting for approval, provided you've been in valid H-1B status. The new employer must file a new LCA and I-129 petition covering the Clinical Program Manager role. Your new job duties still need to meet the specialty occupation standard, so the role description matters.
What is the prevailing wage requirement for sponsored Clinical Program Manager jobs?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
