Data Entry Jobs in USA with Visa Sponsorship
Data entry roles rarely qualify for H-1B visa sponsorship on their own because USCIS doesn't consider basic data entry a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree. However, you can find visa-sponsored positions in data processing, medical coding, and data operations at companies like Cognizant, Infosys, and large healthcare systems where the role involves specialized knowledge. Your best path is targeting data entry positions that overlap with data analysis, records management, or compliance work. TN visas may also be an option for Canadian and Mexican citizens if the role falls under a qualifying profession like computer systems analyst. For detailed occupation requirements, see the O*NET profile.

Target government contractor data processing roles
Federal contractors like Maximus, SAIC, and Booz Allen Hamilton hire data processing specialists for agencies like CMS and the VA. These roles involve handling sensitive records under strict compliance standards, which makes them easier to justify as specialty occupations. Many of these contractors have legal teams experienced with H-1B filings and are more willing to sponsor than small businesses. Search for titles like 'data processing specialist' or 'records analyst' rather than 'data entry clerk' to find these positions.
Get certified in medical coding or records management
Earning a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) credential from AAPC or a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certification transforms a basic data entry profile into a specialized one. Hospitals and health insurers like Anthem, Cigna, and Kaiser Permanente hire medical coders and health data specialists who do data entry but with domain expertise that qualifies for H-1B. These certifications typically take 4 to 6 months to complete and are well recognized by employers. The salary bump alone, often $10,000 to $20,000 above generic data entry, helps meet prevailing wage requirements.

Find Data Entry JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Can I get a visa for a remote data entry job?
Remote-only data entry jobs are extremely unlikely to come with visa sponsorship. Employers filing H-1B or other work visas need to list a specific worksite location on the Labor Condition Application, and USCIS scrutinizes remote positions more heavily. You're better off targeting on-site or hybrid roles at large employers like UnitedHealth Group, Maximus, or Conduent that have established sponsorship processes. If you're already in the U.S. on OPT, a remote position could work temporarily, but it won't lead to long-term sponsorship in most cases.
Do data entry jobs pay enough to meet visa salary requirements?
This is a real concern. H-1B roles must pay at least the prevailing wage for the occupation and location, and many basic data entry positions fall below that threshold. The DOL prevailing wage for data entry keyers in most metro areas ranges from $32,000 to $42,000 at Level 1, which is low but technically meetable. Your odds improve significantly if the role is classified as a data operations specialist or data processing analyst, where prevailing wages and actual salaries run higher. Focus on employers in high-cost cities like New York, San Francisco, or Boston where even entry-level data roles pay more.
What is the prevailing wage requirement for sponsored Data Entry jobs?
When a U.S. employer sponsors a foreign worker for a work visa, they are legally required to pay at least the "prevailing wage" — the average wage paid to workers in the same occupation, in the same geographic area, with similar experience. This is set by the Department of Labor to prevent employers from hiring foreign workers at below-market rates. The prevailing wage varies significantly by role, location, and experience level — for example, a data entry in Texas will have a different prevailing wage than the same role in a smaller state. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search tool.
How to find Data Entry jobs with visa sponsorship?
To find Data Entry jobs with visa sponsorship, use Migrate Mate, which specializes in visa-sponsored positions. Focus on H-1B or skilled worker visa opportunities with healthcare organizations, financial services companies, and large corporations that frequently process high volumes of data. These employers often need dedicated data entry professionals and are more likely to sponsor international candidates for these essential administrative roles.
