Summary
The Electrical Maintenance Technician is a key member of the Utilities Team, responsible for performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of all electrical and instrumentation (E&I) systems supporting the plant’s Utility and Water Treatment operations. This includes power distribution systems, instrumentation devices, controls, sensors, HMIs, and electrical components associated with UPW, PCW, CHW, CDA, HVAC, Cooling Towers, Exhaust Blowers, and other facility-critical systems. The technician ensures safe and reliable operation of equipment by performing scheduled PMs, responding to alarms, completing corrective repairs, assisting with operational routes, and maintaining accurate maintenance documentation. This position requires strong electrical and instrumentation knowledge, attention to detail, and the physical ability to perform electrical work in a fast-paced industrial environment. Training will be provided as needed.
Responsibilities
- Perform electrical and instrumentation preventive maintenance on Utility & Water Treatment systems, including UPW, PCW, CHW, CDA, CW, HVAC, exhaust blowers, and related infrastructure.
- Conduct routine equipment inspections, operational checks, and troubleshooting to maintain system uptime and restore functionality when electrical or instrumentation issues occur.
- Operate, interpret, and respond to HMI controls, alarms, system flowpaths, and instrumentation feedback to diagnose system behavior.
- Perform electrical repairs, including replacing, aligning, or rebuilding electrical components, sensors, wiring, breakers, relays, and control devices per specifications.
- Disassemble, repair, and reassemble electrical and instrumentation equipment using proper tools and safe procedures.
- Maintain cleanliness of electrical panels, components, and instrumentation areas according to facility standards.
- Assist Utilities and Water Treatment Technicians with equipment monitoring, route checks, and troubleshooting tasks as needed.
- Use standard electrical meters and diagnostic tools to evaluate voltage, continuity, resistance, and instrumentation accuracy.
- Identify system problems proactively, escalate appropriately, and communicate findings clearly within a diverse team.
- Support execution of planned shutdowns, corrective work orders, and emergency repairs.
- Read and interpret electrical blueprints, I&C diagrams, P&IDs, flow path diagrams, and equipment manuals.
- Maintain accurate records of PMs, repairs, work orders, and equipment performance.
- Assist in developing SOPs, procedures, and LOTO documentation to improve safety and consistency.
- Comply with all applicable safety requirements, including PPE usage, electrical safety practices, and facility EHS procedures.
- Perform other duties and special projects assigned by management.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree or technical training in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Instrumentation, or related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of electrical or instrumentation maintenance experience in a manufacturing, facilities, or industrial environment.
- Strong electrical and instrumentation knowledge base, including troubleshooting, repair, and PM execution.
- Ability to safely use and interpret readings from standard electrical meters (voltage, continuity, resistance, etc.).
- Knowledge of pumps, valves, gauges, and basic piping configurations as they relate to electrical and instrumentation systems.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, I&C diagrams, blueprints, and flowpath documentation.
- Experience operating HMI systems, including understanding controls, alarms, and system behavior.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Basic computer skills with MS Windows, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Ability to pass a basic electrical/mechanical aptitude assessment during the interview process.
- Ability to meet the physical demands associated with electrical maintenance, including climbing, kneeling, and lifting equipment.
