Target industries with consistent sponsorship track records
Tech companies, consumer goods brands, and media firms file the most H-1B petitions for marketing roles. Focusing your search on these sectors significantly improves your odds of finding an employer already familiar with the sponsorship process.
Clarify the specialty occupation requirement early
Marketing Support Specialist roles qualify for H-1B sponsorship only if the position genuinely requires a bachelor's degree in a specific field. Generalist roles where any degree suffices are harder to sponsor. Ask employers whether the role has a defined degree requirement before applying.
Emphasize technical marketing skills in your resume
Roles combining marketing with analytics, CRM platforms, or marketing automation tools are far easier for employers to sponsor. These hybrid skill sets strengthen the specialty occupation argument USCIS evaluates when reviewing your petition.
Use Migrate Mate to find verified sponsoring employers
Searching broadly wastes time on roles where sponsorship was never on the table. Migrate Mate filters for employers who have actively sponsored marketing roles, so every application you send goes to a company already open to the process.
Be transparent about your visa status and timeline
Employers often hesitate because they misunderstand sponsorship costs and timelines. Addressing this in your cover letter or early in interviews, and framing it clearly, removes ambiguity and positions you as prepared rather than complicated to hire.
Consider employers with established immigration programs
Large companies with in-house legal teams or preferred immigration counsel process petitions faster and with fewer complications. These employers are more likely to sponsor because the operational overhead is already built into their hiring workflow.

Does a Marketing Support Specialist role qualify for H-1B sponsorship?
It depends on how the role is defined. H-1B sponsorship requires the position to qualify as a specialty occupation, meaning it normally requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field such as marketing, communications, or business. If the employer's job description accepts any degree or no degree at all, USCIS may reject the petition. Roles that incorporate digital analytics, marketing technology, or campaign strategy are generally easier to sponsor because the degree requirement is more defensible.
What degree do I need to get sponsored as a Marketing Support Specialist?
A bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, business, or a closely related field is the standard baseline. USCIS evaluates whether your degree aligns with the specific duties of the role, not just whether you hold any bachelor's degree. If your degree is in an unrelated field, three years of direct, relevant work experience can substitute for each year of missing education under USCIS equivalency rules, which could still support a successful petition.
How competitive is H-1B sponsorship for marketing roles?
Marketing roles are cap-subject, meaning they go through the H-1B lottery if filed in the regular cap season. In recent years, selection rates have been around 25 percent for the general pool. However, candidates with U.S. master's degrees get a second draw in the advanced degree exemption pool, improving overall odds. Sponsorship is achievable, particularly if you target employers in industries with established immigration processes and roles that clearly meet the specialty occupation standard.
Can I find Marketing Support Specialist jobs that offer visa sponsorship on Migrate Mate?
Yes. Migrate Mate is built specifically to surface jobs where employers have a demonstrated history of sponsoring work visas, including marketing and marketing support roles. Rather than filtering through thousands of listings where sponsorship is ambiguous, Migrate Mate focuses your search on employers who are genuinely open to the process, saving time and improving your application hit rate.
Can my employer sponsor me for a green card as a Marketing Support Specialist?
Yes, employer-sponsored green cards through the EB-3 category are an option for marketing roles that do not require advanced qualifications. The employer would need to complete PERM labor certification, demonstrating that no qualified U.S. worker is available for the role. The process is lengthy, often taking several years including the petition and priority date wait, and requires sustained employer commitment throughout.
What is the prevailing wage requirement for sponsored Marketing Support Specialist jobs?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
