How to Get Visa Sponsorship in National Account Executive
Target enterprise-focused employers
Large companies in SaaS, logistics, medical devices, and financial services file the most H-1B petitions for National Account Executive roles. Enterprise-scale employers have established immigration programs and are far more likely to sponsor than regional or mid-market firms.
Confirm your degree field matches the role
H-1B eligibility requires a specialty occupation. Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, or Finance degrees typically satisfy this for account executive roles. A general studies degree without relevant coursework may complicate the specialty occupation argument with USCIS.
Highlight your existing client relationships
Employers sponsoring National Account Executives want proof you can manage complex, high-value accounts from day one. Quantify your portfolio size, retention rates, and revenue impact. Sponsors need to justify the petition cost, and a strong track record makes that case.
Ask about sponsorship before the final interview round
National Account Executive roles often move quickly through hiring. Confirm the employer's willingness to sponsor before investing in multi-round interviews. Raising it early filters out firms without immigration infrastructure and saves time on both sides.
Understand the H-1B cap and lottery timing
Most National Account Executive positions are cap-subject. Registrations open in March for an October 1 start date. If you're already in H-1B status with a different employer, a transfer can happen year-round without waiting for the next lottery cycle.
Use Migrate Mate to find sponsoring employers
Not every company that posts an account executive role will sponsor. Migrate Mate surfaces jobs from employers with a verified history of visa sponsorship, so you're applying to companies already equipped to handle the immigration process for this role.

Can a National Account Executive role qualify for H-1B sponsorship?
Yes, but it depends on how the role is defined. The position must qualify as a specialty occupation, meaning it normally requires at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field like Business, Marketing, or Finance. Generalist sales roles where any degree is accepted regardless of field are harder to support. Employers typically strengthen the petition by documenting the analytical and strategic complexity of managing national-level accounts.
What visa types are most common for National Account Executive roles?
H-1B is the most common path for National Account Executives. O-1A is an option if you have documented recognition in your field, such as major awards, high-profile media coverage, or a track record of leading unusually large accounts. Australian citizens may qualify for the E-3 visa, which has no lottery and is faster to obtain. TN status is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals if the role aligns with a qualifying USMCA profession.
How hard is it to get an employer to sponsor a National Account Executive?
It's more achievable than in many fields because National Account Executive roles are revenue-generating, which makes the sponsorship cost easier for employers to justify. The strongest candidates bring an existing book of business, industry-specific relationships, or specialized vertical knowledge that is genuinely difficult to replace with a domestic hire. Searching on Migrate Mate narrows your pool to employers who already have immigration programs in place, which significantly improves your odds.
Does my degree field matter for H-1B sponsorship as a National Account Executive?
It does. USCIS evaluates whether the degree field is directly related to the duties of the role. A degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Finance, or Communications typically supports the specialty occupation argument. A degree in an unrelated field, even paired with years of relevant experience, can complicate the petition. If your degree doesn't align, your attorney may build the case using a combination of education and the 3-for-1 experience equivalency rule.
Can I transfer my H-1B to a new employer if I take a National Account Executive role?
Yes. H-1B portability allows you to transfer your existing status to a new employer once the new I-129 petition is filed, without waiting for approval. You can begin working for the new company as soon as the receipt notice is issued. The new employer's attorneys handle the petition, and the role must still qualify as a specialty occupation under the new job description.
What is the prevailing wage requirement for sponsored National Account Executive jobs?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
