Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Pediatric Cardiologist Jobs
Highlight your subspecialty training and certifications
Interventional pediatric cardiology, electrophysiology, or congenital heart surgery subspecializations strengthen H-1B specialty occupation arguments and make the position harder to fill with U.S. workers for PERM purposes.
Consider J-1 waiver opportunities in underserved areas
Pediatric cardiology qualifies for National Interest Act waivers in Health Professional Shortage Areas. This bypasses the J-1 home residency requirement while serving critical community needs.
Prepare for PERM prevailing wage determinations
Pediatric cardiology wages vary significantly by region and subspecialty. Your employer needs accurate job descriptions and geographic data to obtain proper prevailing wage determinations for labor certification.
Document your research contributions and publications
Academic publications in pediatric cardiology journals strengthen NIW petitions and demonstrate national interest. Clinical research participation also supports extraordinary ability claims for EB-1 applications when applicable.

Find Pediatric Cardiologist JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Do pediatric cardiologists qualify for H-1B specialty occupation status?
Yes, pediatric cardiology clearly qualifies as an H-1B specialty occupation. The role requires specialized medical training, board certification in pediatrics and cardiology, and often fellowship training in pediatric cardiology. The position meets all specialty occupation criteria including degree requirements and specialized knowledge.
How to find Pediatric Cardiologist jobs with visa sponsorship?
To find Pediatric Cardiologist positions with visa sponsorship, use Migrate Mate, which specializes in connecting international medical professionals with sponsoring employers. Focus on children's hospitals, academic medical centers, and large healthcare systems that commonly sponsor H-1B and O-1 visas for specialized physicians. These institutions often have dedicated international recruitment programs and experience with visa processing for pediatric subspecialists.
Can I get an NIW green card as a pediatric cardiologist?
Pediatric cardiologists often qualify for National Interest Waivers, especially when serving underserved populations or conducting significant research. The specialty's critical nature and limited supply of qualified practitioners strengthen NIW cases. Academic positions with research components have particularly strong approval rates.
What degree requirements apply for pediatric cardiology visa sponsorship?
You need a medical degree, completion of pediatric residency, and cardiology fellowship training. Foreign medical graduates must have ECFMG certification and may need additional residency training in the U.S. Board certification in pediatric cardiology is typically required for permanent positions and strengthens visa applications.
How does J-1 fellowship status affect H-1B applications?
Most pediatric cardiology fellows are on J-1 visas with two-year home residency requirements. You can apply for cap-exempt H-1B positions at academic medical centers or pursue J-1 waivers through underserved area commitments. Plan this transition before fellowship completion to avoid status gaps.
Are there visa advantages for pediatric interventional cardiology subspecialists?
Yes, interventional pediatric cardiology and other subspecializations create stronger sponsorship cases. The highly specialized nature makes these positions difficult to fill domestically, supporting both H-1B specialty occupation arguments and PERM labor certification requirements. Subspecialty training also strengthens NIW and EB-1 green card petitions.
What is the prevailing wage requirement for sponsored Pediatric Cardiologist jobs?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
