INTRODUCTION
The opportunity
Adobe is growing its Design team focused on monetization and commerce experiences—powering how customers discover, evaluate, purchase, and manage Adobe products. This work sits at the core of the business, connecting customer value to revenue across a global ecosystem.
We’re seeking a Group Design Manager to lead and grow a team of world-class designers and a manager. You’ll operate at the intersection of design, strategy, and business impact—shaping scalable, end-to-end experiences across the customer lifecycle.
As a systems-thinking leader, you’ll set direction and enable your team to turn user needs, insights, and company objectives into high-quality UI and measurable outcomes. You’ll drive alignment across a complex, matrixed organization while fostering a culture of craft, innovation, and growth.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Set and enforce the quality bar and strategy across all monetization experiences — acquisition, expansion, retention, and payments.
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of Staff, and Senior designers, plus one Product Design Manager.
- Drive the shift from execution to data-informed strategy: problem definition, opportunity identification, roadmap influence.
- Own squad-level product and engineering relationships for routine alignment and to influence the strategy.
- Partner with Sr. Staff Product Designers on innovation, cross-cutting quality and systems work — lateral relationships, not management.
- Translate the team's design principles — composability, E2E ownership, data-informed discovery, quality as a gate — into how the team actually works day to day.
- Communicate upward clearly: status, blockers, strategic risks, and team development.
- Bring clarity to ambiguity and focus teams on highest-impact work.
- Hire, mentor, and grow design leaders and teams; elevate UI craft.
- Lead AI-native workflows, scaling design-to-production (e.g., Figma-to-code, coded systems).
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
What you need to succeed
- 8+ years leading design teams in complex, matrixed organizations.
- Experience in monetization and commerce with clear business impact.
- Strong product and systems thinking.
- High bar for UI craft and design quality.
- Ability to lead through ambiguity and operate from strategy to execution.
- Excellent communication and executive storytelling skills.
- Experience hiring and developing high-performing teams.
- Proven ability to drive alignment in complex environments.
- Familiarity with modern systems and workflows improved by artificial intelligence.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred Accessibility Design Skills:
- Experience designing accessible and inclusive interfaces for people with disabilities.
- Understanding of applying WCAG conformance criteria in design, specifically testing comps, wireframes, and prototypes for accessibility standards.
- Accessibility certifications CPACC, WAS, CPWA, or ADS from the IAAP preferred.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Visa Sponsorship as a Product Design Manager
Target companies with established design orgs
Large tech companies with dedicated design teams, think product-focused firms with 500-plus employees, are far more likely to have immigration infrastructure in place and prior H-1B sponsorship history for design leadership roles.
Frame your degree field carefully
H-1B approval for this role hinges on demonstrating specialty occupation status. A degree in human-computer interaction, industrial design, or UX research maps more cleanly than a general fine arts degree, which may face additional USCIS scrutiny.
Document your managerial scope clearly
Sponsoring a manager requires the employer to show the role genuinely requires a specialized degree. Emphasize team size, product decision authority, and cross-functional influence, not just design execution, in the job description and offer letter.
Consider the O-1A if you have a strong portfolio
Product Design Managers with awards, published work, high-profile product launches, or press coverage may qualify for O-1A extraordinary ability status, which bypasses the H-1B lottery entirely and has no annual cap.
Verify the employer has sponsored designers before
Some companies sponsor engineers readily but have never navigated design role sponsorship. Ask HR directly whether they've filed H-1B petitions for design or creative roles, past experience matters for a smooth process.
Use Migrate Mate to find pre-vetted sponsoring employers
Migrate Mate's job board filters for employers with active sponsorship history, saving you from applying to companies that will decline at the offer stage. Browse Product Design Manager roles specifically listed as visa sponsorship eligible.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Product Design Manager role qualify for H-1B visa sponsorship?
Yes, Product Design Manager typically qualifies as a specialty occupation under H-1B visa rules, provided the position requires at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field like human-computer interaction, UX design, or industrial design. Roles that only require any bachelor's degree regardless of field may face a Request for Evidence. Employers strengthen the case by specifying degree field requirements in the job description.
What degree do I need for H-1B sponsorship as a Product Design Manager?
USCIS requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a directly related field. Degrees in human-computer interaction, UX design, product design, or industrial design are the strongest fit. Graphic design or fine arts degrees can work but may need supporting evidence tying the coursework to the specific role requirements. A general business or unrelated degree significantly weakens the specialty occupation argument.
How competitive is H-1B approval for design management roles compared to engineering?
Design roles face modestly higher RFE rates than software engineering because USCIS scrutinizes whether the position truly requires a specialized degree versus general creative skills. Approval rates improve significantly when the job description specifies technical design systems knowledge, research methodology, or human-computer interaction expertise. Employers who have previously sponsored design roles successfully are better positioned to navigate this.
Can I find Product Design Manager jobs with visa sponsorship on Migrate Mate?
Yes. Migrate Mate lists Product Design Manager roles specifically from employers with documented H-1B sponsorship history, so you're not wasting applications on companies that won't sponsor. You can filter by visa type and role level to surface relevant opportunities faster than sifting through general job boards where sponsorship eligibility is rarely disclosed upfront.
Is the L-1A visa an option for Product Design Managers transferring from an overseas office?
Yes, if you've worked for the same employer abroad for at least one continuous year in the past three years in a managerial or executive role, the L-1A is a strong option. It requires no lottery and the employer files directly with USCIS. The key is demonstrating that your overseas role and the U.S. role both meet the managerial definition, managing people, not just projects.
What is the prevailing wage requirement for sponsored Product Design Manager jobs?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
