You will ensure our products are positioned with the technical credibility and business relevance that resonates across the full sales motion, from field enablement to strategic enterprise deals. You think like a product manager, communicate like a marketer, and engage like a technologist.
Responsibilities
Product Technical Marketing and Content
- Own the development and maintenance of design guides spanning planning, implementation, performance, segmentation, and troubleshooting.
- Produce high-quality technical content including videos, demos, deployment guides, and proof-of-value narratives that bring to life the speed, agility, cost efficiency, and architectural advantages of our infrastructure solutions.
- Co-author vendor-specific deployment guides and collaborate with product teams on Colocation and Equinix Managed Solutions implementation templates (high-level and low-level design).
- Stay current on AI infrastructure trends and the evolving customer behaviors driving AI adoption, translating that intelligence into actionable content and positioning.
Product Enablement
- Lead technical enablement programs for global sales teams, channel partners, and industry analysts, ensuring the field can articulate product value with depth and confidence at every level of customer conversations.
- Build and maintain high-quality RFP response content, boilerplate libraries, and technical field resources that reduce friction and accelerate sales cycles.
- Support the development of product-specific value narratives and ROI frameworks ensuring our positioning speaks the language of the buyer across key verticals.
- Provide strategic support for complex Strategic and Enterprise deals, lending data-driven insights that help move opportunities forward.
Customer and Field Engagement
- Serve as a senior technical point of contact for strategic customer engagements, supporting planning, design, implementation, and escalation in partnership with product and field teams.
- Backstop Global Solution Architects, Technical Account Managers, and Support Services on targeted product offerings, providing depth where it matters most.
- Coordinate pilot and beta engagements with product teams to validate new features and drive customer success from day one.
Product Strategy and Feedback
- Deliver rigorous competitive analysis across direct and indirect competitors, with a focus on clearly positioning our infrastructure portfolio where it wins.
- Feed product development with actionable insights grounded in hands-on experience, customer engagement, and market observation.
- Maintain technical repositories, presentation assets, and community engagement materials that reflect the current state of our portfolio and roadmap.
REQUIREMENTS
- 12+ years of experience in technical marketing, product management, or sales engineering in networking, cloud, or infrastructure domains.
- 1+ years of experience working in a data center business, experience with private cloud, hybrid cloud, positioning of each and why one might be better than another in a particular situation.
- Proven ability to bridge product innovation and customer adoption—developing technical assets and narratives that resonate across both technical and business audiences.
- Deep fluency in the Colocation market, hybrid cloud architectures, infrastructure managed services, and the strategic reasons customers choose on-premises and colocation environments over hyperscalers.
- Strong understanding of AI infrastructure trends and the role of physical infrastructure in enabling enterprise AI at scale.
- Experience navigating and enabling vendor ecosystems, including partners such as Dell, NVIDIA, HPE, Accenture, WWT, and others across the channel.
- Exceptional communication and storytelling skills with the ability to move fluidly between deep technical content and business-level narrative.

Lead with your degree field, not just your title
H-1B sponsorship for this role depends on your degree aligning with the position. A marketing, communications, or business degree makes the specialty occupation case straightforward. Unrelated degrees require more documentation from your employer's immigration attorney.
Target companies with established immigration programs
Larger tech, SaaS, and consumer brands sponsor Product Marketing Directors regularly and have in-house counsel or retained immigration firms. These companies move faster and make fewer errors than employers sponsoring for the first time.
Clarify sponsorship scope before accepting an offer
Confirm whether the employer covers H-1B filing fees, premium processing, and legal costs. Some companies cover all costs; others pass attorney fees to the employee. Get this in writing before signing, not after.
Document your cross-functional leadership for O-1 consideration
If you've led go-to-market launches with measurable revenue impact, spoken at industry events, or received press coverage, you may qualify for O-1A. This path bypasses the lottery entirely and is worth exploring with an immigration attorney.
Understand how your OPT or STEM extension affects timing
If you're on F-1 OPT, cap-gap protection covers you through September 30 if your H-1B is selected. STEM OPT gives you up to three years of work authorization, reducing urgency on any single lottery cycle.
Use your portfolio as immigration evidence, not just a hiring tool
Documented GTM campaigns, product launches, and measurable outcomes serve dual purpose: they help you land the offer and support your employer's petition by demonstrating the specialized nature of the work you perform.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Product Marketing Director role qualify for H-1B sponsorship?
Yes, Product Marketing Director typically qualifies as a specialty occupation because the role normally requires a bachelor's degree or higher in marketing, business, communications, or a related field. USCIS evaluates whether a degree in a specific discipline is the standard industry requirement for the position, not just preferred. Employers should document that the role routinely requires theoretical and practical application of specialized knowledge to strengthen the petition.
What degree do I need for H-1B sponsorship as a Product Marketing Director?
A bachelor's degree in marketing, business administration, communications, or a closely related field is the standard basis for sponsorship. Degrees in unrelated fields, such as engineering or biology, can still work if your coursework or experience demonstrates direct applicability to product marketing. Some employers pair an unrelated degree with a credential evaluation or supporting documentation to satisfy USCIS specialty occupation requirements.
Can a Product Marketing Director qualify for an O-1A visa instead of H-1B?
Yes, if you have a record of exceptional achievement in your field. O-1 visaA requires evidence of extraordinary ability, which for marketing professionals can include high-compensation history, leading critical campaigns for well-known organizations, press coverage, speaking engagements, or a record of judging others' work. The O-1 has no annual cap or lottery, making it a viable alternative if your profile is strong and you want to avoid H-1B visa uncertainty.
How competitive is H-1B sponsorship for Product Marketing roles, and where should I look?
Product Marketing Director roles are sponsored regularly at mid-size to large technology companies, consumer brands, and SaaS businesses. DOL disclosure data shows consistent LCA filings for this title across industries including software, healthcare technology, and financial services. The H-1B lottery selects roughly 25 percent of registrations, so volume and timing matter. Browse Migrate Mate to find Product Marketing Director roles from employers with active sponsorship histories.
Does a Product Marketing Director need PERM labor certification for a green card?
Most Product Marketing Directors pursue a green card through the EB-2 or EB-3 category, both of which require PERM labor certification unless you qualify for a National Interest Waiver. PERM requires your employer to conduct a supervised recruitment process and demonstrate no qualified U.S. workers are available. Timelines from PERM filing to green card approval, including priority date backlogs, currently span several years for most countries of birth.
What is the prevailing wage requirement for sponsored Product Marketing Director jobs?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
